So it’s almost 2011, the year of my 10-year high school reunion. It’s scary how quickly the time passed!
I’m just curious, for the bees who went to their high school reunions, what was it like? Was it worth going? Any funny stories to share?

I only saw pictures of mine, but I don’t regret not going: I didn’t recognize almost anyone! I think it depends on the size of your hs… my graduating class was almost 650, and pretty much no one that I used to hang out with attended. If they had, I can imagine it might have been fun. 🙂 Are you likely to know anyone there?

@spaniel: 650?! Wowza… our grad class was only around 200 people. Most of my friends and I all went to the same school, so we’ll probably go together.

Mine was a lot of fun. Our class was 450 and about 80 people came. Everyone was super friendly and it was kind of like it hadn’t been 10 years. The only story is that my BFF who helped me plan the reunion and was a total goody-goody in high school was puking in the bathroom halfway through the night. It was pretty funny.

Mine was fairly boring. I’m in touch with most of the people I want to be in touch with on FB, so there were not many surprises there. The people I’m not in touch with, I don’t really have anything in common with (i.e., super small town high school, they didn’t have any real educational ambition, have never left that town, etc.)
Haha – There was one super awkward moment when some girl I wasn’t friends with in high school basically cornered me to chat and the chat was beyond forced, as really, we have nothing in common. I remembered she was married, so I asked her how her husband was – turns out she had recently gotten divorced and I was “the first person to refer to him as “my husband” since the divorce”. She unfriended me on FB the next day. LOL, sigh! You can’t win ‘em all!

I missed my 10th but I hope to make it to my 20th in two years. Even though we live far away, my best friends at heart are still my high-school friends. I went to an all-girls school with a very high degree of academics, with intelligent and fun girls, and formed great friendships away from all the boy trouble and cattiness. Most of them are scattered all over the world now and most are acclaimed professionals in their fields. We have college professor, NASA scientists, opera singers…But when we get together, we’re all a bunch of giggling teenager girls again. I can’t wait to see them all.

@gabrielleelise1981: What the hell? How were you supposed to know he was no longer her “husband”?! Haha!
FB really does kill much of the surprise, doesn’t it? But it does satisfy my creeper urges, lol!
I think the biggest surprise so far in our grad class is a girl who was the stereotypical teacher’s pet. She cared only about sucking up to the teachers and getting good grades, and she was really anal-retentive and no fun to be around. After high school she did a complete 180, changed her name from something plain to something exotic, got her boobs done, became a “glamour model” and started posting naked photos of herself all over facebook (yes, actual nudity… explicit nudity). Sure, we were curious about her “transformation,” but not that curious! Jeez!
