My wedding coordinator lost my vow book. The plan was for both of us to give our books to her, and she would place them on the table beforehand. When my husband pulled out his book from his jacket, I had that oh shit realization that my book wasnt there.

Then I had to impromptu my vows, and is all I could think was “damnit I should have practiced these” because all week my husband said he was practicing and I told him there was no reason to do that lol.

I got about 80% of it right from what I had written down. The special part was during dinner they found it, so I got to read it to him after the speeches.

Photo of me pulling things off the top of my head

And me showing proof that I did indeed write vows ahead of time lol

I have two memorable moments… both I found/find funny.

The first during our vows my husband got the words mixed up and promised to ‘laugh at me’ for the rest of our lives … not ‘laugh with me’.

Secons, during the first dance we did a twirl and my husbands ring came flying off and landed 5m away on the grass!!! I’m so glad we have it on film as it was such a funny moment!

I’ll never forget the feeling I had as I walked down the row of grapevines to my husband, who had his back turned, for our first look. It was really surreal, and was definitely the most memorable moment for me.

The 18 year old beat man cry/laughing his way through his speech so much he had to stop half way through.

It was at a male colleagues wedding and speeches were all lovely, funny, and a bit soppy. The poor wee guy just got caught up in the moment and let the nerves/emotion take over. He knew it was ridiculous and was also laughing at himself – but just could not stop crying.

so cute.

We said, “Absolutely, I do,” because everyone knows that’s the only way to make a pact.

I didn’t have anything traumatic happen, but I do remember texting my soon to be husband while I was getting my hair done and he was supposed to be getting dressed to see how he was doing only for him to tell me he and his best man were walking around Lowes in their tuxes just because. I didn’t freak out too bad but did threaten to kill him if he got back late.

We left the rings in the safe! The Pastor started talking about the rings and he whispered to me, “do you have them?” and of course I responded “no, I thought you had them!” Anywho, we totally faked it! It was hilarious!🤣😂🤣

We had an Elvis impersonator at our reception, and he was just about to begin his show. We had kept it as a surprise to all our guests. So the disco lights are flashing, the smoke machine is going off, 2001 Space Odyssey theme is reaching its climax, everyone looks around to see what is going on… And in walks my husband’s 70 year old aunt who has just come back from the bathroom! I still cry with laughter thinking about it, as did everyone else then! Auntie M’s big entrance…!

Other favourite memories are the speeches, (my dad wrote a poem which was amazing, the two best men were hilarious and my sis and my husband’s speeches made me cry) and my sister’s boyfriend singing during the ceremony. We had Billy Joel “Just the Way You Are” as a song, and you know later on in the song when there is the high bit? “IIIIII don’t need clever coooooonversation”… Well he really committed to it, but did it the first time round really early in the song, when everyone else was singing normally and quietly. It was hilarious! He was like “oh no!”

Oh and when me and my husband finally drove away through the night to our airport hotel for our honeymoon. That felt so special.

Our wedding day was really relaxed and of course saying yes was brilliant but two moments were especially brilliant.

We got married at the courthouse with only immediate family. During the legal process of getting married, my husband’s 3-year-old niece was given a snack pack of gummi bears and while we were all being quiet and festive, she walked over to my little nephew who is a similar age and offered him some gummi bears. And my nephew looked at her with big eyes and very loudly said in the sweetest voice: “What’s YOUR name?” They spend all evening playing with each other.

The second amazing moment was… we had booked a buffet for dinner and we arrived early to make sure everything was set up but the staff told me I wasn’t allowed in the separate room where the buffet was being set up. I was slightly annoyed but figured they didn’t want me getting underfoot. When all the guests had arrived, staff asked if we were ready for the starter and they opened the doors to the buffet room. And my father-in-law and his two other sons had built a life-size TARDIS as a wedding present for us. They’d spent MONTHS making smaller models and then made the final version, painted it, even included lights. Then took it apart, spoke to folks at the location and assembled it there the day before the wedding without our knowledge. When I saw it, I almost fell over my dress because I ran to my fil as fast as I could and almost knocked him over. I felt so, so loved, not just by my husband but by his whole family.

We got married at home with a few close friends. In front of the fireplace. {yeah, corny}My husband had asked my boys to stand with him. Everything was going smoothly until our cat decided we were in his spot and  curled on my husband’s shoes. He was quite vocal about letting us know he wasn’t happy with our intrusion.

Bad: I had two cakes. One from where we got our food, and the other from a bakery. All the bakery items showed up. My other cake did not. I was about to have words when my DOC stepped in. 20 minutes later my cake was on the table.

Good: Seeing his face at the first look. I felt like a damn Disney princess when he looked at me. I messed up my vows and had to have them repeated. I kept making jokes during the ceremony. I spent the whole night on the dance floor surrounded by friends. It was amazing.
