We recieved many generous gifts including cash gifts, money in our honeymoon registry and gift off our store registry and lovely gifts that weren’t on the registry. Just for fun, what was that one unexpected/funny/odd/re-gifted item you received? I know we all got em… Ours was the Magic Bullet Blender.

@blingybride: This is a great topic and never got off the ground, I’d love to hear some answers from married bees!

I’m not sure if you’re just looking for funny ones but we received an unexpected gift that was incredibly sweet. My fiance’s parents divorced when he was 7. Between the divorce and multiple moves, his parents lost almost all of the baby pictures and growing-up pictures of him. It’s something that’s always kind of bothered him because he sees how my family still has massive collections of photos from when my brother and I were little and he could never find any of him self.
For my bridal shower, his grandma went through all her old photos and put together a photo album of childhoow pictures of him that she had. It was perfect!!!

About 6 months after our wedding we received a framed crocheted…well, I don’t really don’t know what to call it, but it says “Happily Ever After” with our names (the top left corner) and wedding date (bottom right) all done by hand. She even stitched on tiny pearls (since my engagement ring is a pearl, and I had pearls sewn onto my dress). Completely unexpected, but I thought it was the sweetest thing.
Not the greatest picture, but you get the idea.

Random? One of DH’s friends gave us a merry go round picture frame set up. We tried to return it (not our style) and it is copyrighted for 2004. I’m guessing it came from a gift closet
On the positive side- my cousin and her husband got us a whoopie pie recipe book. We both had whoopie pies at our weddings so it was a nice touch and I can’t wait to try out the different combinations!

@Mrs Sarah McK: That is pretty cool, bridal colors and handmade! I can’t even imagine all of the time it took to make that. And it has pearls on it (nice compliment to your ring and dress). How cool! (Even if it’s not someone’s particular style, it’s still pretty awesome.)

@Mrs Sarah McK: That’s lovely. It’s cross stitch. That’s a lot of work and love that got put into it!

As part of a shower gift, my stepmother-in-law gave us bride/groom sleeping masks for the plane ride for our honeymoon. I always sleep with a sleeping mask, and I still sleep with my bride one every night! I love it! On the inside (against your eyes) it says “Sweet dreams”. Darling Husband doesn’t wear his, but when I misplace mine I fish his out, he says it freaks him out when I wear the groom mask though 😉
They’re fairly similar to this one, but the bride one is a nice blue colour instead of white and the crowns are like half the size:

@red_pepper_gal: Whoops, I knew that, don’t know why I wrote crochet! It’s not really my style, per se, but I adore it, and we have it hanging on our wall. It was made by DH’s best friend’s mother, who is also the widow of Future In-Laws late best friend. She’s the sweetest lady, she’s been sending me hand-knit socks ever since I moved to PA (and was housemates with DH’s best friend).

@bakerella: LOL @ your Fiance freaking out about you wearing the groom mask.

It wasn’t my wedding, but one of my friends registered for Little Debbie snack cakes at Target when he got married. We wound up buying one of each of them as their gift (along with a “normal” gift). His wife was quite surprised & he actually ate 2 of them at their shower!

@banana_anna–– Thanks for breathing life into my post that got no love 5 months ago. I love all these responses… some super sweet & sentimental, some kinda kooky….I just started this post because I found the Magic Bullet kind of a funny wedding gift and kind of random. Especially since it’s promoted for healthy weight loss shakes. Re-gift? A hint to lose weight? Not sure, but funny either way!

We only got a few physical gifts for our wedding, and the rest were monetary gifts. One of the gifts was a huge piece of ceramic art that had a naked woman on it. It is totally not to mine nor DH’s tastes and we later found out that the people who gave it to us spent nearly $1000 on it… :S

@ritsi_bitsi: That’s pretty weird. I couldn’t imagine spending a grand on something that I have NO CLUE whether they would like it or not.
Our most random gift: a 4-place setting dish set, of gold/green dishes in a box. Really random, especially since we registered for everyday dishes in colors that we actually like. It seems like that guest was spring cleaning and found us a gift…lol
