I’d love to see pics of the dress you nearly bought. I’m keeping my dress top secret until the day (my BMs haven’t even seen it!) but this is the one I’d have got if I had a two-dress budget! It’s Ellis Bridals 11127 and my mum fell in love with it. I thought it was gorgeous too, but not quite right for me. The back is the real show-stopper for me.
Oh, the buttons and the embroidery *sigh*.

This was my runner up. Lovely dress, just not the dress for me.

This was my runner up, the dres was so light and airy, but I didn’t like the way the fabric felt, it felt like a cheap halloween costume
But I loved the flowers embroidered on it

My runner up: I loved the clean lines of this one, but it just didn’t fit with the feel of my wedding.

@irishphoenix: I love the way the flowers kind of cascade down the skirt – really pretty!
@brandybelle: I tried on so many dresses that felt like that. It’s such a shame when they cost so much!
I told my mum that I probably would have chosen the Ellis if I’d been marrying in a chapel, but it felt too formal and traditional for our venue. And a bit too princessy for me (I am in no way a princess, much as Mum would like me to be!) Plus the fact that it was so hot and heavy I would have melted on the day! It made me feel so guilty that I didn’t choose the dress she loved because I’m her only daughter, but I fell in love with my dress and couldn’t stop smiling when I wore it.

@Bride2BeeVA28: The dress you chose suits you so well – the shape is perfect on you.

OP~your runner up dress is stunning!!!
I sometimes still wish I had chose my runner up dress. It was less expensive and probably fit me better.

This was my runner up… it was beautiful, but it would have cost waaaayy to much to take it in (I would have bought the sample) and the beading looking more gold than silver kinda bothered me. But nevertheless I still think about it sometimes 😛

Pronovias Bermeo (I think that was the name) was ALMOST my dress.

I bought this dress from priscilla of boston while at a sample sale alone– when my family saw it — everyone hated it
I ended up selling it after I found my perfect dress

Casablanca 1914. Although I think I would have gotten the Casablanca 1975 if any stores in my state had had a sample for me to try.

There were a few…but the Enzoani Farlow came closest.

Anais by Christos…I loved it but I just loved my dress so much more and my dress turned out to be a lot less expensive too!

Here were a few of my runner up dresses – if I hadnt immediately (and FINALLY) fallen in love with my dress I would have been forced to choose between them:
