My grandmother is the most important person in my family to me. She was diagnosed with bowel cancer aged nineteen, and given six months to live. She has gone on to have several other horrendous illnesses throughout her life. She is in her seventies now, with three children, and several grandchildren and great granchildren, who all adore her. I live three hours away but I call her all the time, asking her for advice, and having long crazy chats – she is honestly the greatest woman I have ever known, and even after all her illnesses, and despite now being on dialysis three days a week, I have never heard her complain ONCE. So naturally I want something of hers with me on my big day (we’re eloping).

She’s in the process of looking out some jewellery for me, a brooch, a necklace, a pin, or something, to attach to my bouquet. I can’t wait to have my something borrowed/something old with me, from this incredible woman. I hope you can find something meaningful from your relatives!

My grandmother’s watch. My grandfather bought it for her while stationed in Germany during WW2. It meant a lot to me and my father that I wore it.

My mom gave me my something borrowed 🙂 It’s an old bracelet that she loves and hasn’t worn in a while!

I don’t like jewellery but that seems to be the easiest. Maybe a bracelet from my mom, but I’d really rather skip this part.

Mine is going to be my mom’s diamond bracelet.
