We actually didn’t receive anything weird. This may be because we received a ton of cash gifts as we live in a different state than where the wedding was held. We got a few off registry things for the shower but they were all useful. They only things we returned were things that we received doubles of.

@missstarling: not married yet, and so far our gifts have actually been pretty fantastic. a couple things we didn’t ask for/don’t need, but overall normal stuff (a platter that isn’t really our style and an ice cream maker we will rarely – if ever – use, but nothing crazy)
my friend got married last year and i was a Bridesmaid or Best Man, and was in charge of transporting her gifts back to the city where we live. someone bought her a GIANT ASS PICTURE FRAME. literally like 4 feet by 3 feet. SUPER HEAVY and SUPER AWKWARD. they live in a tiny one-bedroom row house apartment, what use do they have for a picture frame that stinkin huge?!

My Maid/Matron of Honor got me dollar store beach towels, 4 capitain morgan drinking glasses (i saw them at burlington coat factory) and 2 christmas ornaments and a random pillar candle with fake rocks in a vase.
I was grateful, didn’t show my weirded out face, but was kinda like…ok? lol
^ this was the bridal shower FYI – it is custom in the New York area I’m from that at weddings you give a card with money, any amount but usually enough to cover your plate…she didn’t get us even a blank card, nothing.

- Wedding: October 2014 - Greenbrier Country Club
Well so far, we’ve only recieved 4 gifts (we’ve only had an engagement party).
So out of the four (which were all wonderful,) I’d say, a picture frame.
Lol. Yeah. No bad gifts yet.
(really just commenting to follow)

How can I ”follow” a thread ? I’ve seen this often on the forum, but I don’t know how to do. Is there a place I need to click and weddingbee with automatically bring me to the place I last left it ?

is it like, Nativity ? But that would be strange without the little figures to put in it.

We didn’t get anything super bizarre… But we actually enjoyed most of the off-registry gifts we got. One couple gave us a bottle of tequila, margarita mix and some glasses. Whoo hoo, cocktails! Another couple gave us a cool basket with exotic ingredients, like pomegranate molasses, French peppercorn mustard and fig balsamic. I love to cook and experiment, so it was perfect!
At my bridal shower, I got a gift that was a weird decorative bowl and two jars of mixed herbs. All of them had the HomeGoods clearance stickers half scraped off. It was a little strange, but whatevs. We donated the bowl and enjoyed the herb mixes!

Oh, and my parents gave us a print of a tree with our names and dating anniversary date “carved” into it. But they got the date wrong. Now we joke that our anniversary is really 5/21… Because my mom said so. Lol!

When we opened up our card box, out popped an edible chocolate thong. I’m not joking. I didn’t know it was my bachelorette party!! LOL. No other weird gifts really but there were 3 with no names so that’s going to be fun!

- Wedding: October 2013 - Rustic mill, historical site
We’re not married yet, so I’ve only had my bridal shower so far. I got some really neat garden things for my patio, and a bunch of gift cards and stuff. I also got a plug in skillet, and a george foreman lean mean fat grilling machine, I brought it home and my fh was SUPER excited! LOL. My best friend’s parents got us a cake cutting set to use AT the wedding. Nothing weird so far!

One gift included the following: a freebie travel mug (that they give away at the local mall), with 2 margarita glasses shaped like cactuses and one (broken) luggage tag shaped like a lizard.

We mainly got cash gifts (thats typical of where we live) but the one thing that we go was this huge, glass fish with no head….. I mean this thing is about 18 inches long by about 12 inches high. Its heavy glass. Its like a big bowl of some sort. It stangs on its two fins and its tail finn and where the head would be there’s a large opening. I may have to see if i can attach a pic to show you really how…..interesting it is. lol

I can thank DH’s friends for this one
A children’s toy from the thrift store, stuffed with a ton of dollar bills. Oh, there was also a LIVE FISH in a bag inside of it. The fist is still avile today, we are thankful that it made the 8 hour trip back home!
And my mom gave us a super fake rock with a saying on it. We live in an apartment and it isn’t our taste.
