For my first wedding  (older bee here….)  we received a very, very worn and wrinkled and filthy five dollar bill, from the aunt of my now ex-husband.  Apparently the two of them weren’t on good terms… I never knew…. she was invited as part of his family and she declined our invitation but sent the dirtiest rag of a $5 bill I ever saw!!

So I sent her several lovely photos of our wedding in the thank you note, and was gracious in my thanks.  My kill with kindness mode.  LOL.

Actually, that fish does have a head ‘cos those bubbly looking things on the side of it are eyes. The opening is, I think, intended to be its mouth. Even allowing for it having a head, it’s still an extraordinary gift!

@missstarling:  Bahaha. There must be something about fish & wedding gifts. Not for our wedding, but my FI’s aunt & uncle when they got married, they got this terrible little fish picture. They regifted it one year for Christmas and it has been going around the family ever since. Like for 20+ years. It’s pretty hysterical & it’s been hinted that we will be getting it this year. I’ll be sure to share a picture if/when we do. 🙂

@missstarling:  The opening is its mouth. It has a head. The eyes are the circles on the sides.

The worst wedding gift would be the non-existent one — people who didn’t get us anything.

Runners-up:

1. A small ceramic…..vase? Maybe? But I think you have to hang it on a wall? And that came with six refrigerator magnets wrapped inside it.

2. A $10 gift card to Target. Nice thought, but we weren’t registered at Target for a reason — the closest Target is so far away that it would cost us almost $10 in gas to get there and back, haha.

3. A chip and dip set in a beat-up box that obviously came out of the person’s basement.

4. A mismatched gravy boat, serving bowl, and pitcher that looked used and had no tags or stickers on them of any kind.

And three of the five came from the same family — the three grown daughters of friend of my mother’s who came with their own families in tow. I’ll let you guess which three of the five gifts they were, haha.

I got a can of Buschs Baked Beans at my bridal shower at the church. That was pretty odd.

Strangest wedding gift would have to be a dish drying rack and sponges.

Oh, and a bag of cinnamon candies.

We got a DVD out of the $5 bin lol.

We also got a card from some people we have NO IDEA who they are, & there was a $1 bill inside.

The worst ones of all though were the non-existant gifts & cards from all of my husband’s siblings. So shady.

We got a 50 dollar gift card to Pottery Barn. We have absolutely no use for it, and we weren’t registered at pottery barn. They have nothing we want and everything is so expensive.

I wish I could get rid of it. :
