We’re having a cucake tower with a giant cupcake at the top. I am not completely sure yet, but probably a combo of flavors with the cupcakes and red velvet giant cupcake.

What kind of cake are most you going with?

Ours is marble rasberry (pound cake).

Our baker told us pound cakes were the best to bake with since they are made with butter they stand up better or easier to decorate.  So we decided to go wth pound cake. But I’m second guessing myself now wondering if guests will think it’s too heavy of a cake to eat after a big meal.

Ours is Irish Creme cake with Orange Brandy filling, and buttercream frosting.

I wanted something light and refreshing.  It fit the bill.  I loved it!

We went with a chocolate cake with mocha filling (2 layers) and a lemon cake with raspberry filling (fresh raspberries).  It was great!  We got lots of compliments on it.

We did square layers with white on white swirls.  She added gum paste flowers in our wedding colors:

The baker we went with makes the best cake I have ever had! We chose a red velvet with chocolate mousse filling and a chamagne cake with fresh strawberry filling. To die for!

We had two flavors, carrot cake with cream cheese filling and banana cake with chocolate granche filling. Since we got married in the fall, the flavors were very seasonal and the guests loved the variety. Many actually requested two pieces so they can try them both!

@Kriddlelouise:  Wedding cake was champagne (it was delicious, even to those that didn’t like champagne the drink) with filling.

Groom’s cake was chocolate.

The top and middle tiers of our cake was lemon with raspberry filling and the bottom tier was chocolate with a Bavarian cream filling. All three tiers were covered with buttercream then a very very thin layer (of GOOD) of fondant. The flowers were handmade out of gumpaste. Our cake was made to feed 120.

We’re doing one 10″ round carrot cake with cream cheese frosting (our favorite!!), and then cupcakes – carrot cake with cream cheese, vanilla, and chocolate.  The last two flavors will have whatever yummy frosting she comes up with, I don’t really care as long as it’s delicious.

@DaneLady:  We’re having cupcakes and a small buttercream cake to cut, too!  And we can also choose up to 8 types.

Were you happy you had a lot of variety, or did you think your guests ate more cupcakes because of it?  I have this weird fear that if we have different 8 flavors, instead of 4 or so, we’re going to run out of cupcakes because people will want to try them all…haha.

I just ordered my cake, I’m having Italian cream! Future Sister-In-Law had it as her cake and it was honestly the best option from the bakery, I’m super excited!

We had three different flavours, and all of the tiers had buttercream icing with fondant on top.

First – Orange Spice with Cream cheese icing

Second – Vanilla with Rasberry

Third – Chocolate with Strawberry

plus one fake layer.

Ours was an almond cake with three layers of frosting – strawberry buttercream, strawberry meringue, and lemon buttercream.  It was amazing – I can’t wait for our one year anniversary to have another piece! haha
