After I came back from serving in Iraq I got recruited by a company to sell night vision goggles.

I was pregnant and the office smelled funny so I was wicked sick all day.  Plus it was a lot of phone work. (I despise talking on the phone) and cold calling places.  It was horrific.

I worked one summer as a telemarketer.  That was, by far, the worst job I’ve ever done.  No one wants to talk to you, people yell at you, just not fun in any way shape or form.

I worked in a mine for a summer.  I was out in 100+ degree heat doing manual labor and doing pest control for hordes of mormon crickets.  Pretty much everything about that job was just awful.

I want to say when I waitressed for two weeks at a horrible restaurant, but really it was when I worked as an administrative assistant my first year of college. Both those times it came down to my boss, not necessarily the job itself, although waitressing is a really hard job.

@Mrs.Beeloney:  Mine had to be my first ‘real’ job out of university. I was an executive assistant to a VP in a huge furniture company (think hundreds of locations across Canada), and my job was also looking after all the big customer service issues. They needed 10 of me but there was only one, and my days were spent getting yelled at in between ordering office supplies and preparing reports (kind of a weird combination for a job, but anyway), and my nights were spent crying.

Luckily I only stayed for a few months and it gave me the office experience I needed to get my current job (this was almost 4 years ago). I shudder when I think about how bad that job was.

Human Resources at a small meat packing plant.  It smelled, I worked ungodly hours (was told when I was hired I would work 40-45 hours/week.  I ended up working 70 hours/ week and I was a single mom of 3 kids all under the age of 4).  Most of the men at the job were chauvenstic and tried to belittle me.  Our plant was next door to another packing plant and I had to walk by all the maintainence men/workers on my way to my office, I’d deal with cat calls all the time.  I would complain to the HR person at their plant but I’m not sure if anything was done about the harassment because it occurred every day.  After only 3 months of working there I quit.  The money was fantastic, I was paid hourly and racked up a lot of overtime but the atmosphere and hours especially with 3 small children at home was not worth it.

I really regret the job now because those are months I will never get back with my children.  I had just graduated with my Bachelors in HR though and sooo badly wanted to be an HR person.  I ended up going back to school and getting my nursing license which is funny because I worked in healthcare from highschool up until this god awful job and said I didn’t want to do healthcare work.  Now I love my career and my HR degree has helped me to become a supervisor at a hospital.

When I was 15, I worked as a waitress at an old folks home. They were cranky, it was minimum wage, they didn’t tip, and they expected the sun and the moon from a bunch of 15 year olds working their first real job. I used to have stress nightmares every night from that place!

Mine was an admin assistant/sales support for a lighting company. The job itself was fine, but it was the people I had to work WITH that made it a living nightmare. Especialy this one total wench who was just such a total C word to me. She made me cry more than a few times, I’m embarrased to say. Once she blew up at me for the DUMBEST reason and my BOSS actually had to beg me to not walk out. I did any ways. F that terrible person. Never have I ever hated anyone as much as her and…..wow, SOMEONE needed to vent πŸ™‚ Sorry Bees. There you have it. Admin Assistant at a Lighting Company. Worst. Job. EVER.

I’ve worked some crappy jobs, even fast food when I was younger. I would say my most current job, a legal assistant is the absolute worst. It isn’t my “job” it is my boss entirely that makes it horrible. He has no soul.
