Its kinda cliche but, it’s all i could get him up to dance with me to when I was little so there was really no other choice 🙂

My father daughter dance is A Little Ray of Sunshine by Axiom. My dad heard it on the radio the day I was born so I can’t think of any other song to have!

We danced to Footprints in the Sand by Leona Lewis.  I have had a couple devastating things happen to me in my life and this song reminded me how my dad has always and will always be there for me.

Military Man by Jessie James Decker. My dad is retired AF and he wore his AF dress blues for the wedding. It was very meaningful.

I had a difficult time with this as well. I literallyl picked it last week adn my wedding is in 2 weeks. My dad suggested ‘I loved her first’ and ‘My little girl’ but I did not want to go the cliche route. Also I am not a super country girl and he had never even heard them before they were suggestions given to him.

I ended up picking Billy Joel’s “Just the way you are”

My dad wanted I Loved Her First by Heartland which I love but my family friend danced to that with her dad so I feel weird using it as well. Other songs that are possibilities are My Little Girl by Tim McGraw and It Won’t Be Like This For Long by Darius Rucker.

We danced to Butterfly Kisses at my sweet 16 so I don’t want to do that again.

My dad is a huuuge music lover and an even bigger Grateful Dead fan. I wanted to make sure it was something he loved and since he never brought up music I figured he’d want me to pick it. I went on a search to find a Grateful Dead song or something that wouldn’t be corny or that he would hate.

I ended up falling in love with “I Will Take You Home” by the Grateful Dead, and I showed it to my mom and aunt (dad’s sister) who both cried. My aunt said that she couldnt believe I picked that song because my dad took her to the last show that song was performed by Brent Mydland before he died and it was a song he wrote for his girls. It was perfect.

The day of my wedding my dad started to come forward to the dance floor when they called our names and then when the song started playing all he kept saying was “no, no, no, no!!! how did you know, omg” and he was bawlingggg.

The other songs I really loved when searching were “It won’t be like this for long” by Darius Rucker and the song I picked for my husband and his mom to dance to was “Never Alone” by Lady Antebellum and Jim Brickman. 🙂
