@Joninasigrun:  What websites have you found?  There are quiet a few bees who have ordered their dresses online.

@Joninasigrun:  If you want a new dress, I would purchase from  a salon. If you want a used dress, preownedweddingdresses.com and oncewed.com (there are a ton of others I don’t have memorized) let brides sell their dresses for a small fee. You will find sample dresses, unworn dresses people are selling because of dress regret, and dresses that have been worn in a wedding before on there. I bought my dress from a bride on oncewed.com

@Joninasigrun:  I’m not familiar with that one, and I did a search by image google search and couldn’t figure it out. However, if you start a new thread and mention that you would like to know what the designer version of that dress is, I’m pretty sure a bee on here will be able to figure it out for you. Mention in your thread that someone already did a search by image otherwise someone might tell you to do that.

@Joninasigrun:  I would go used then. I’m not sure what designer that is, but you can search by designer on both the sites I listed, and they should fit you similarly. Often used dresses are 1/2 retail, though occasionally you will see them for much less. The site you originally listed makes knockoff dresses, which some people are ok with and others aren’t. I can’t speak for their quality, but there are other bees who have purchased from them who can tell you about their experiences.

@Joninasigrun:  The dress you tried on and liked looks like Maggie Sottero Brianna to me ๐Ÿ™‚ But understood you cant wear it if your friend is planning to! For finding a dress online you can through the classifieds here or http://www.preonwedweddingdresses.com or http://www.oncewed.com that could be pre-owned but there are also lots of samples or never worn gowns. For new dresses there are legitimate online shops like http://www.bestbridalprices.com or http://www.weddingshoppeinc.com but I am not sure what restrictions there might be for shipping to Iceland(?) Some designers wont let their dresses be shipped to international adresses from US retailers – and most of the online (legit) shops are based in the US. I am in NZ so had the same issue when I tried to buy my Maggie Sottero, no US shop could ship to me but in the end a bee here had the dress I needed and I was able to get it – brand new – from her!

If you like Maggie Sottero dresses and the fit, that might not be a bad place to start since it is such a large company and there are tons of her dresses around – if you find a style you like then you *should be able to find it somehow. Also as a tip if you end up wanting to buy through the US and they won’t ship it to you direct, you can always use a forwarding service. Basically they give you a US adress that the retailer will ship to, then this service forwards/ships it to you. Places like http://www.shipito.com

And I will post a photo of my gown, it was somewhat similar in shape to the one you tried on and gives you another style to consider – it is Madison Marie ๐Ÿ™‚

@jennifer_nz:  Hey Jennifer, even with a forwarding address to ship outside of US, some legit sites (such as bestbridalprices.com) require your credit card to be US-issued..  Frown
