I completely spaced out, too, haha. I have very little recollection of the moment. We were in a public park so I’m sure other people were listening/watching/walking by, but I have no idea if they were or not. I remember him giving me a speech about being best friends, excited to move to California together, spend our lives together. I thought this was just him beind romantic because it was my birthday and we were riding around in a horse-drawn carriage. And then in the middle of the speech under a tree BAM down on one knee with a ring asking if I’ll marry him. I’m pretty sure I burst into tears and managed to nod my head. I didn’t even see the ring until we had started walking back to the carriage and I could clear my tears enough to hold onto it and put it on.

Love your stream of thoughts, haha.

I do not remember a word that my husband said to me at the proposal!

He had flown into town that day while I was at work and in order for him to have my car when he got back from the airport I had my mom drop me off at work. He picked me up when the day was over and we drove home. I remember he took the long way and I was like, why, why would you do that? LOL

We got back to my house and he was like, you go first, go. I walked in and the whole house was covered in rose petals and candles. I was carrying my rain boots on my shoulder in their little rain boot bag and I put them down inside the door. The bright orange bag is in all my pictures of the proposal LOL. We were standing sort of near the door and he just rushed into a little speech and asked me to marry him. I was all OF COURSE and then I think I said something about him getting down on one knee, so he did and asked again and then I said OF COURSE. LOL. ETA: I forgot to mention he also had Frank Sinatra, The Way You Look Tonight playing in the background. Ever since I was little I have just thought that song is pure love. He asked me after the proposal, Ok can we turn this thing off now? I said, “No, the proposal is still happening, we’re in the moment, enjoy.”

After that I went kind of picture happy until I finally made my way over to the dining room table and saw that he had placed the ring on top of this cute little dove figurine. It was my great grandmother’s ring that he proposed with. (My mother in law gave me heirloom diamonds later that evening and I had a ring constructed after the fact.) That was the cutest little surprise, that little hiding the ring touch. But for the life of me I have NO IDEA what he said as he was proposing.

We have no in the moment proposal pictures because it was a completely private moment between the two of us.

My heart was pounding so loud and i was trying so hard not to cry that i didnt hear a word he said after he got down on one knee. After his lips stopped moving, and he opened the ring box, i whispered yes and immediately started to cry. Our song that we are going to dance to at our reception was playing in the background the whole time.

@pocketsizedriss:  That sounds almost identical to our story (except the Bahamas, we were at my apartment). But I was so shocked Ididn’t hear a word he said, and when i asked him what he said he couldn’t remember either!

II can not tell you one thing that I was thinking the entire time he was proposing, since I was laughing too hard!   Seriously.   I could not stop laughing/crying. I dont even know if he said “will you marry me?”   And I can’t even say if I said yes then!  (He asked me again after brunch to make sure 😉

Picture during the proposal (one of about 20 of me laughing while he was proposing)

I think I blacked out…I have no idea what he said after he got down on one knee. It doesn’t help that he also blacked out and doesn’t even remember what he said, Hehe, I guess we’ll never know

Haha my fiance didn’t really even say anything (or maybe he did and I can’t remember?)  I asked him how much he loved me, which is a question we asked each other all the time, and he pulled the ring out.

I kissed him and was thinking, “I think I’m supposed to say something right now.  Oh my god.  This is happening!”  And then I started squealing.  Haha.

Proposal 1:    Sheesh, he couldn’t wait!
Proposal 2a:  It’s so shiny… I wish he’d hang onto it for a fancy time.
Proposal 2b:  I hope this gets someone to pay for dinner…

I had his grandmothers setting and center stone put on a new band and all I kept doing was trying to take the box so I could see how it turned out. I’m terrible!

OP- beautiful ring!!

We were watching the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom, talking about our future and what we each wanted, and next thing I know, he is down on one knee.  I had no idea what he said and I was completely speechless.  I was in complete shock.  I remember us just hugging and kissing and a few minutes later saying “I didn’t even look at the ring” !!  When we got back to our resort I made him repeat everything because I had no recollection of it at all.

I am glad I’m not the only one who had a whiteout! I thought it was just me who couldn’t remember much of anything but it looks like it’s a common occurence. I had an inkling it could have happened that night but when it did I was shocked. I feel awful that I can barely remember anything he said, though, because I know it was sweet.

I also had that surreal feeling of “wow, this is happening right now.”  One of those moments you think about for so long, and next thing you know, the man you love is asking you to be his wife.  I imagine the actual wedding ceremony will be even more surreal.

ETA: also, i realized after he asked that i couldn’t even see the ring without my glasses (it was early morning), so I asked him to get my glasses!  We are in agreement that i officially said yes before i asked for my glasses 🙂
