- Wedding: October 2013 - Tybee Island, GA
So with 4 days down before mine and Mr. Gigglebox’s wedding, I thought I would start my wedding posts on what we have decided to skip out on, and what we decided to splurge on… And after the wedding have a post before my huge post on how these things affected or did not affect us on our day.
So here it goes…
What we decided to skip & do without.
One. A first look
Mr. Gigglebox and I wanted to do the traditional “Not see the bride before the wedding” And we are sticking to our guns about this one. I do not think a first look will take away from the emotions Mr. Gigglebox and I will have walking down the aisle… I think for me, I want that picture of the groom as they just see their bride walking towards them.
Two. A huge wedding party
We opted out of the big wedding in general. So we decided to have a best man and a maid of honor, and that be it. We did it for the simplicity and the saved drama that comes with a bunch of girls trying to help plan the bride for her wedding… Okay and because for the past 4 years it has been my Fiance and I. Friends come and go, and I don’t want to look back at my pictures years from now and see someone I don’t even know anymore. Most of my friends opted out of my life after high school, and I’m fine with that 🙂 So I decided to ask the one person who has always been there for me, and knows I will always be there for her. My favorite cousin EVER! We’ll call her Hales;) And he decided on his Best man to be his best friend, Bri. I don’t think I will ever regret on this decision!!
Three. A first dance
Okay, so I may look back in the future and wish we would have done this. But as of right now, my Fiance and I both absolutely hate being the center of attention and slow dancing in front of all of our family… it just isn’t us. We could care less about all the slow dancing in front of them…
Four. Big cake/catered dinner
I cannot imagine spending oodles of money for a cake that is just going to be put down people’s throats, or getting thrown away at the end of the night… I also cannot imagine spending the money on a caterer… lol. We decided on more of a dessert reception. We will have our cake, but it will be a small one along with many, many desserts cupcakes and pies and a candy buffet. And I know many of you will think “Holy Cow! People are traveling to your wedding and you’re not even going to feed them dinner?” Now hold your horses… We are having the desserts, but also on the side we will be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers and making it less formal! We are the fun type of people… not a formal dress up and eat off the menu while I spend $6,000 on the food!! Haha
Five. Father/Daughter dance
No father, no dance 😉 no regrets there.
Six. Bachelor/Bachelorette parties
We aren’t the party type. And with us both only having one person each in our wedding party, we opted out of this and just let everyone save their monies
Seven. A huge grand get-a-way exit.
We are having the reception/cookout at the beach house where we will be sleeping. No need for a huge sparkler exit (which doesn’t always turn out good pics!) lol.
Eight. Out of town bags/bathroom baskets
These are pretty useless, as to we are all out of towners. lol. We are making a weekend of it with a lot of the guests:) I see no need for a bag for everyone. Bathroom baskets… it will be at a beach house, and all essential needs should be in a bathroom 🙂
Things we aren’t skipping:
One. Photographer/ Videographer
This is probably the only reason we went for an actual wedding, instead of just going out the courthouse. I wanted pics of us dressed up and dolled up for our special day.
Two. Professional hair & makeup
I do my own hair and makeup EVERYDAY. Mr. Gigglebox knows what I look like on a daily basis (we live together) I want to WOW him. and with my techniques of hair and makeup… I think a professional is the only route to go. Lol. Plus I paid for Hales to get all of hers done too, so it would be a fun experience and GREAT bonding time!
Three. Fancy living before the wedding
We rented a limo to take my aunt, Hales, and I to our ceremony haha we wanna feel “Fancy” lol
So needless to say; our wedding is pretty practible and nothing EXTRAVIGANT lol. And we are perfectly okay with that. All together we have spent $5000 for everything. And we are pretty satisfied with our budget and progress. Wedding planning is not fun at all! There’s alot of options and choices… and i must say we are pretty satisfied. Destination Weddings are specifically rough. I have a wedding planner who has been awesome in finding all of our vendors. I can say we are pretty much done with everything and taking these next 4 days to relax from it all, and pack for our honeymoon! This will, however, be my last post before i am a MRS. I cannot wait to come back and share the experience and recap of it all with you all!
