I knew I wanted a blue stone, white gold, solitaire probably round cut. My heart was set on a tanzanite but my brain would have got a sapphire to save some money.

In the end I got my tanzanite the only difference being it’s a heart cut not round

I got exactly what I wanted! I knew I wanted a round solitaire OEC diamond set in yellow gold with 6 prongs. I wanted the basket to be very low set and look kind of like a little crown. We had it custom made and it turned out to be perfect for what I wanted. There was another style I considered but for my small hand it would’ve been way too “much”.

I was pretty open to anything when we went ring-shopping. I hadn’t decided on white vs yellow gold. I like rose gold, too, but it’s pretty rare here and doesn’t really suit my skin tone anyway.

Originally I’d considered a coloured gemstone but I like things to colour-match, so that was out. That left colourless stones. Moissanites aren’t a thing in Germany, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a colourless sapphire either.

I knew I didn’t want a solitaire. I knew I didn’t want anything that would get in the way.

In the end we narrowed it down to three rings. One was a full eternity band in white gold, the second one was a 5 stone ring but it felt too big and the third one was a small round diamond with two tiny sidestones in white and yellow gold setting.

When we first started talking about rings, I had ZERO clue what I liked.  So we looked online and then went to a few jewelers.  Inititally, I really wanted an oval.  But after some heming and hawing (and hours spent trying on different rings), we came to the conclusion that round will sparkle the most and is more classic which I liked.  So then it was between round halo vs cushion halo.  I would’ve been over the moon with either, so that was what the bf got to “pick.”  He went with round, round and we’re in love with it!

The actual ring!

My taste drastically changed. i had my heart set on a bezel set asscher diamond ring (like the emerald one pictured). My husband found a round diamond set in a cushion halo ring when we went shopping and suggested that I try it on. In my heart, I knew this was the one. I still love bezel set diamond rings and assher stones, but I wouldnt trade my rings for anything. dream_ring20170215_213543
