Just being a little nostagic, what were your favorite books/series as a kid (like learning to read till you were a teenager)? I have always loved to read and by about 1nd grade pretty much read mostly chapter books, I missed lots of the picture book phase, other than Dr. Seuss, which were a favorite at our house.
But some of my personal favorites were all the Little House books (Laura Ingalls Wilder) and the rest of the ones written about the women in her family. Also, the Boxcar Children! Anyone else? I made the most epic model of the boxcar for a book report when I was in elementry school. And I have always been a history nerd so American Girl books when I was a little younger then Dear America books (a historical fiction series set up as diaries of girls growing up in important histoical times like the Revolution, Manifest Destiny, Civil War, WW2 ect) were a frequent read in my house
Also, Chronicles of Narnia!! Always have loved those. And I was a late bloomer on them, but Harry Potter. I started reading them when the first movie came out and it was always cool because I was pretty much the same age as them as they grew up in the books.
I wasn’t much into classics untill high school really, but I have come to really enjoy a good dytopia, but not so much as a kid. I really REALLY wanted to go back and be a pioneer girl, I learned to bake and sew and really wanted to grow my hair out to wear in two braids so I could be like Laura…
So, anyone else? What books graced your shelf as a younger kid?
