Sweet Caroline should do it. Brown Eyed Girl. Twist and Shout. Shout. Proud Mary.

I vote Sweet Caroline. There are very few songs on that list that I like though. But I freaking love Sweet Caroline!

We are doing an ipod (actually laptop) wedding with an emcee and I’ve spent countless researching songs/playlists/DJ advice. Most of those songs would work because they are songs that most people know, but I’ve read that since the older crowd typically dances earlier in the evening, the earlier dance sets usually feature older music. I have been searching for that “perfect” song to kick-off the fast dancing too, and I’m thinking of using “Mustang Sally”. It’s a pretty common song to hear at weddings but it doesn’t strike me as quite as cliche as some of the other popular choices. I’ve analyzed this playlist to death (and I have added plenty of “extra” songs for the emcee to choose from if he needs to) so I know alllll about youtube overload!

I’m not 100% sold on Mustang Sally though and would love to hear some of the other choices! Most of those songs are banned from my playlist, lol, but I’ve still tried to please the masses with similar choices (like “I Saw Her Standing There” but no “Twist and Shout).

To be honest, most of these are on my “Do Not Play” list. Two that aren’t and that I might choose are “Old Time Rock N Roll” by Bob Segar and “What I Like About You” by the Romantics.

In my mind, which could be totally false, the crowd needs a couple of warm-up songs before they are willing to get up and dance to an anthem like these, maybe something that gets the younger people up and then play these to get the old folks to join in.

Edit: I wouldn’t play some of these because I would consider them inappropriate like “Wild Thing” by Ton Loc which is a different song than “Wild Thing” by The Troggs.

we will have the option of dancing at our reception/party…  so the first song that will be played is going to be

Praise you… fat boy slim!  we love this song and it totally describes us!

To slow things down a little…

    “thank you” from Led Zepplin.

oh! and about “I will survive”  that is probably not a good wedding song.  LOL  She gets over her boyfriend/lover, listen to the lyrics.  I would scratch that one! haha

I’m thinking of doing Get This Party Started by Pink! Bit cliche though haha 🙂

Oh those choices I’d probably go with Brown Eyed Girl.
