I wonder if strapless dresses will be less predominant in the future. Obviously, they won’t look silly, and women will always wear strapless dresses, but they have become THE standard for wedding dresses only somewhat recently. I wonder if that is here to stay, or will ebb back out for awhile.
Also I see nothing wrong with being part of your era! Though some trends are more obviously this decade of-the-moment than others.

When I was dress shopping, it was like asking for the moon to ask for a dress with actual sleeves of some kind, and not just sewn-in strap afterthoughts. It would be wonderful to see more variety!

I’m trying to figure out if this thread should be making me feel bad about my dress or not…
Post # 35
I think it’s just in good fun.. no judgment.

Well considering almost every single style of dress has been mentioned in this thread already, I wouldn’t feel too bad!

I know. It’s hard to think of all of our picture-perfect wedding day looks becoming “silly” over time though…

I actually think that strapless dresses might be out in 30 years and we might see a swing back to sleeves. (but who knows…)

Unfortunately, I think that’s the point 🙂 (in fun) – look at any “picture-perfect” wedding picture from any time longer than 15 years ago, and see how funny it looks! Just the sad reality that SOMEDAY we will look back at ourselves and chuckle a bit. 🙂

Exactly. I certainly don’t want anyone to feel bad about the lovely work we’ve all done! But I just think it’s healthy to chuckle at the silliness of it all too ;). All in fun!

What exactly emcompasses a “classic” look? I realized I have no clue what that is….

i think of it the way i think of looking at the photos of me in middle school with my leggings and HUGE sweatshirt. I look at those and think “wow I was so trendy and cool!” and it always makes me smile 🙂

While looking at my cousins wedding from the 80’s with the pastel floral, poofy sleeve bridesmaid dresses and the big hair may be hysterical, I look at my grandmothers wedding photo and think of our classic and beautiful it is. I think that 60 years after anyones wedding, your families will think your wedding was pretty beautiful!

So, judging by the kleinfields list, if I wear my dream dress I’ll already be dated because it’s a natural waist ball gown… hahaha
Trends come and go. We’ve already seen the 80s coming back into mainstream fashion… Thank God suits are still mostly black/grey/white and not pale yellow/pale blue, etc… lol

I think tuxes with colored vests and ties will look dated, too.

I still think if something is done right it will look beautiful
