I wish the reverse apron look would go out of style.  Pickups definately, no one know if your at a wedding or a sweet sixteen party.  The strapless look will probably go out of style. The layered skirt or the big rosettes too.  As long as the victorian 80’s look with the big puffy shoulders doesn’t come back I will be happy.  I still love the colored sashes and the birdcage veils.  I think though part of the fun is seeing what everyone loved when it was their turn.  I love to look at those pictures.

Speaking of wedding trends over the years, I’ll share my great-grandparents’ wedding picture. Not sure the exact year.

Strapless gowns have quietly taken over the wedding world…I know it’s easier and cheaper for designers and manufacturers to do away with sleeves…but I eagerly await their triumphant return.

No, not like that, though crushed taffeta looks awful too. I mean like this:

@huckleberry783: agreed with the trumpet/mermaid silhouette! Birdcages – maybe, I’m not sure. Same with sashes, I’m not sure.

Also, what is ‘pickup’ that a few commentors posted?

@cincity75: By reverse apron do you mean this sort of thing? That’s almost disappeared already.

What will be interesting to see is whether certain trends will disappear completely, or will actually evolve further into something else.

For example, before the 90s, most wedding dresses had long sleeves. When the 90s arrived, so too did short sleeves or fuller thick straps. Back then people might have thought that the ‘fad’ of having shorter sleeves would pass and long sleeves would return… but instead fashion has gone even more extreme and removed the straps / sleeves altogether.

I’m wondering about bridesmaid fashion too. One of the current trends is to have them in mismatched colours, different styles, or both. Is this a fad that will pass? Or in decades to come will we look back on the past decades where bridesmaids matched and laugh at their ‘uniform’ matched look?

Trashing the dress! Will look weird I think. Also any dress with color.

i agree with these. i also think that halo setting rings will be a giveaway of the huge trend right now, i mean they are gorgeous and i love them and am getting one…but i think that everyone will know the time frame they are from.

I hate the reverse apron…it is weird looking. Also can make a gal look preggers.
