Gun laws and government funded medical coverage.

I think the only guns people should be allowed to purchase are those used for hunting and they need to prove that is what they will use it for, and i dont think hand guns should be sold to anyone period.  I also think everyone has a right to free medical coverage.

Oh I forgot about guns (concealed and open carry), stongly opposed to both, but especially open-carry. Plus our governor. I’ll argue about her till I can’t breathe. Can’t stand her.

Evolution…I’m really hating Paul Broun (ignorant congressman from Georgia) right now with all my heart and soul and toenails.

@Swizzle:  I agree 100%, hunting and family heirlooms is all thats ok with me. My friends dad just got an ak-47. Why the hell does anyone need this type of gun? And in their home? I don’t get it.

haha oh man my first thought was, just one?

I have a lot of things that I feel REALLYREALLY strongly about but I don’t know if they fully qualify because I generally try not to argue about things that are firmly held beliefs because I don’t think it makes much difference to anyone. (gay marriage, healthcare,  etc).

But I guess the three I do actually “engage” about are:

1) Proper treatment of pets. This is less because I think I’ll really change someone’s mind and more because I just cannot. help. myself. It pisses me off to no end when someone thinks that declawing a cat or chopping a dogs ears are okay. Or that outside dogs and cats are okay. Or that you can just dump a pet off on someone else when they get inconvenient. RAGE MONSTER about it, for real.

2) Death penalty. I find that this is something that people have opinions about but usually not STRONGLY held opinions and usually they are extremely uninformed. It is an area I spent a lot of time researching/studying/working in, in both undergrad and law school, and I actually think that getting information can help people make more informed choices here.

3) That Ohio’s public school funding is illegal. It just is, our Supreme Court declared it so almost two decades ago now and the legislature hasn’t done shit to fix it. BAH.

I agree about poorly treated animals, I can’t believe the things some people do to their pets and other animals, it is just awful, breaks my heart!

@the_future_mrs:  right?!?! I forgot to even mention the people who just neglect their animal. They get them, dogs especially, when they are little and cute and then hate them when they misbehave because they were never trained. I know multiple people who keep their dogs outside because they are “bad” or keep them crated way too much because “they’re too hyper.” Um…. no shit. You never pay any attention to it, play with it, cuddle it, or give it time to exercise. If you were shoved into a box 20 hours/day you’d be a fucking nutcase too.

“Real men like curves; dogs like bones.”

No. Just no.

And current parenting. Oh boy. I’m fearful for the day the current middle and high schoolers start really reproducing. I can’t say I’m all that much older, but most everyone I know was raised better.

Several that are mentioned here…. I’m pro-choice, pro-marriage equality, I didn’t circumcise, etc. but currently, the argument that makes me want to vomit is the one for trickle-down economics. I worded it the other day as, “Hey, let’s let the rich people have all the cake, because they have a better crumb distribution system.” I really don’t care if that crap works or not (which we know it doesn’t anyway), no one will ever convince me that trickle-down is the way to go. Ever.

Oh, and as a geological engineer, anyone who wants to deny global warming seriously makes me smack my head.

Veganism, and pretty much anything to do with feminist theory (and just try to mention misandry in front of me!!!)
