I’m planning on keeping it. I loved the idea of making it into something for our future daughter, but since she won’t be baptized, have a first communion, etc, I’m not sure what I’d have it made into.

My wedding was 2 weeks ago and I still can’t make up my mind. I love my dress, but at the same time, I know it can bring much happiness to another bride. So I thought I would clean it and sell it. The problem is that

    1. It is heavily altered to fit me perfectly. I am not sure anyone else would want it, unless they have my exact same measurement.

    2. My husband seems to be attached to the idea of keeping my dress – for whatever reasons I can’t figure out!! He’s more attached to it than me, my sister, or my mom. Yeah 🙂

Like @JennHasFeet, I’m going to have my mom shorten it and dye it robin’s egg blue on the bottom.

I’m a bit of a pack rat, but for some reason, my wedding dress is not something I want to keep!  I’d rather let someone else get some happiness from it than to keep it sitting in a closet.

I’m too sentimental, I know I won’t be able to part with it.

I was considering selling mine (as a preowned dress buyer I know how great it can be for someone else) by my Fiance seems really set on me keeping it. I wass surprised when he had an opinion

I want a TTD session like nobody’s business.

It is going to horrify my family. But it’s my dress, right?

Wow; good question.  I think ive been torn.  I already have two girls age 7 and 9 and I would like to think that if i luged this dress around with me for years to come that they will wear it.  Then I think practical…. I ask myself this question…..

AM I GOING TO WEAR MY MOTHERS DRESS THAT SHE HAS SAVED FOR ME ALL THESe years?  The answer is NO WAY.  first of all Im no were near the body shape she was, second its way out dated.. French lace the hole nine yards.  Back in the seventys she paid almost 3,000 for it and has saved it all of these years, she isnt happy im not using it,  I dont want my girls to feel obligated like that.  Im thinking my girls are going to want something more modern when they are old enough to marry.

    I say

Im getting rid of mine and have someone else put it to good use; donate or sell either one.  I care about it, but why have something just taking up space.

    I’m definitely keeping mine.

I have a romantic notion of being able to look at it when I’m old and show it to my grandkids and stuff. I wouldn’t pressure them to wear it or anything though.

i don’t think i can bring myself to part with it….in fact on top of doing bridal shots, engagement shots and my wedding day i had another idea for it….

see all those pics will be in SC where i live now and where the wedding is, but my fiancee is in pittsburgh, where i will be moving….so we had an idea that next spring he would rent a tux, and i would wear the dress, and we would do a photoshoot in pittsburgh with his friend who is an amazing photographer, of us around the city…under all the bridges (as pitt is the city of bridges) and at our lookout point where we got engaged….pittsburgh is just very special to us bc its where we fell in love, where we got engaged and where we’ll start our life together…

i dont think i could sell it, i love it too much…and i’m having one of these sewn in:

and i dont think i could bare to trash it either.

I didn’t have bridal portraits made but would like to have a fun photo shoot maybe on the 6 month anniversary date just at unique locations in the city with my dress on.

Well I don’t know what I’m going to do w/ mine BUT I can tell you what my mother did with her wedding dress….

Her dress sat in a box for about 20 years.  One day she decided that it would be a wonderful idea to go a dressmakers doll and put her wedding dress on the doll.  This dressmakers doll has been nicknamed the “Boobie Doll” (no idea why….) and now sits in my parent’s dining room in the corner w/ her wedding dress on it – the cat loves to sleep next to it.

The thing is super creepy when you stumble downstairs @ 3am drunk (just syaing from experience)  :o)
