What will your guests actually remember?

If the food is really good, I will remember that.  I still remember the food at a wedding I went to probably 10 years ago.  It was exceptional.

If the venue is unique, I will remember that.  I love DWs for that reason.

And how much fun I had drinking and dancing.

Unlike probably a bazillion people in this world, I never remember the food or judge the wedding on whether the food was good. I’m a goat. You can feed me hotdogs and American cheese and I would be fine XD

What I ALWAYS remember is:

1) The dress. Always. I zoom in on that baby and gush (or gripe, mostly gush) about it mentally the entire day. I remember the bridal gown for every wedding I have ever gone to.

2) The first dance. I judge a couple by their first dance choices. Never BAD judgment, but I always make conclusions about certain things by the way they handle their first dance. How they hold each other, the song they pick, that kinda thing.

Those are the big ones for me. I do care about the cake (I hate fruit filling in cakes and if someone has fruit filling I get sad 🙁 ) but it’s not like a big deal. I also care about the venue and how clean it is (and how accessible bathrooms are!!!) – but again, not the biggest deal.

But I’m an oddball 🙂

pinkdolphin :

(1) Did I have fun dancing/was the music good.

(2) CAKE.  I love cake.

(3) Food/drinks in general.

Now that I’m married, I pay more attention to the ceremony, so I’ll probably remember parts that I thought were sweet.

I always remember the ambience, which I guess comes down to venue and decor. Whether there is an open bar. The dress. And the vows. I have seriously side-eyed the vows at some of the weddings I have been to (attempting to be funny but are literally just being rude to your partner when you are supposed to be declaring your love.. it ruins the feel of the wedding for me!)

I remember the food!  The amount of “downtime”, was there no where to sit?  Parking.  The length of the ceremony.  The bar selection and if it was open.

I love seeing the brides look!  If the “first dance” and family dances were too long.  If they don’t play a few slow songs for couples to dance too that don’t want to “rock out”.

I remember the music most – was it fun, did I dance the night away? I also remember the length of the ceremony, especially if it dragged on for a long time. And of course, the dress/look of the bride! The food feels secondary to me, I don’t remember it unless it was excellent, and it’s generally mediocre.

Things I don’t ever remember are stuff like, table centerpieces, floral arrangements, other decorative details that nobody will really notice.

I remember if I liked the food, if it was fun, and if anything horrendously embarrassing happened. Don’t remember much else.

Ambiance, the venue, how much fun we had. I never remember the dress or food, small details escape me

I also never remember the food. What I remember is if it’s a cool venue (and legit cool, outside tents all look the same) and if the atmosphere was fun with a lot of dancing!! As long as everyone is having a great time, and I am, too, that’s what I remember!

pinkdolphin :  I remember if the food was bad or especially good but otherwise don’t think of it much. I remember the band/dj, if it was a cash bar (rare in my area so pretty off-putting), and whether it was special. By special I mean if it was at a neat venue, the couple was extra-adorable in some way, etc, or if there was something out of the ordinary (good or bad!) If it’s a cookie-cutter standard wedding with no personality I’ll remember going and that there was nothing particularly memorable about it lol.

The only weddings where I remember any little details/decor is if I was heavily involved in the helping the bride plan. I wouldn’t remember them from just seeing it on the night though.
