what will your mother be wearing to your wedding, will you be having he match the bridal party in someway and will she be matching the theme, i want my mother to match and wear a 50’s dress. or are you simply letting her wear what she chooses, i am not sure how this works, my mum is more than happy to join in. i am more than happy for all of my guests to join in the 50’s theme if they wish, i’d rather they refrain from the wedding colours though.

My mom wore purple (same as the girls) in a similar fabric but very different style. My Mother-In-Law wore black and white which were our other colours.

My mom chose a dress with my sister (our fashion advisor). It is a beige colour, just above the knee, sleeveless and has a gorgeous rhinestone broach. It doesn’t match our wedding colors and I didnt care because she looks and feels beautiful in it. Honestly, until I came to weddingbee I didn’t know they were supposed to! Oh well!

@naturalysam: i like that, i would like my Fmil to be incorporated also. but i know she will not wear a 50’s style dress but thats ok too, I’m not sure she will look kindly on my dressing her either, but we’ll see 🙂

@stokieGal: Hi fellow UK bee. My mum wore this, it wasn’t a colour that was part of the theme, but I think because of this she stood out more

I have no idea what my mother is wearing. I just asked for it to be long or at least past her knees. I did want her to match our color scheme but it was a point of contention so I figured it wasn’t worth arguing over. As long as she stands out and looks nice.
@CatyLady: I love your mom’s hat!

My sister and my husband’s sisters wore ivory, my bridesmaids wore navy and my mom and my husband’s mom wore black. Everyone was coordinated that way specifically. This was my mom’s dress. It was from Bloomingdale’s. My mother in law’s dress was from David’s Bridal.

our colours are purple and gold, my Mother-In-Law is wearing a red sheath dress and my MO is wearing a lavender pink sheath dress. sooo annoyed but no point in making a big deal out of it.

don’t know what it looks like but i know my mother in law is wearing a dress that more expensive than my own wedding gown…not too happy

My mother is wearing a dark blue floor length gown from a Giorgio Armani outlet. It was 75% off! Mother-In-Law had her dress made for her; the dress being inspired by Nicole Kidman’s chinoisiere gown at the Oscars.

my wedding colors are turquoise and coral. asked the moms to wear a darker blue. my mom’s dress is kind of a cobalt color, but my mother in law chose a black dress instead. i don’t love the idea, but i haven’t seen the dress, so maybe once i see it i’ll be happier about it. but it’s definitely better than an off-white dress she originally wanted her to wear. i had my fiance and sister-in-law steer her off that path. i know no one’s going to mistake her for the bride, i just didn’t like the idea of me and her “matching.”

@lilchicana: we are colour twins 🙂
I’ve spoken to my mum she is really excited about the idea of wearing a 50’s style dress 🙂
i am going to get my Fiance to approach his mother with the colour coordinating idea and she what she says. i have seen a nice teal dress hopefully it will work

My bridesmaids are wearing royal blue dresses with sparkly bright pink shoes and bouqets. My mom is wearing a shade of pink, not as bright as what the bridesmaids are wearing. She isn’t wearing pink for any other reason than it looks awesome against her skin tone. 🙂

My mother wore a black cocktail dress that has cool poofy flowers on the sleeves (it’s not 80’s cheesy like it sounds) and a black fascinator with feathers. She looked amazing. His mom wore a bright blue CK cocktail dress with a little ruffle on it. It was super cute.
I told them to find a dress that made them feel like a million bucks so that they’d smile pretty for pictures. 🙂

We found my mom’s dress before I was engaged. 🙂 Luckily it happens to work perfectly with my dress and what I’m envisioning for my bridesmaids. Here it is.
Just for reference I’m thinking a darker kind of lilac chiffon for bridesmaids dresses.
