For the life of me- no matter how hard I try, I always misspell definitely & fortunately. (I just had to use spell check to correct my spelling errors!) I am 31 with a bachelors degree and it drives me crazy that I can’t spell those 2 words!
What words do you have trouble with?

restaurant – I always spell it multiple times before getting it right! So annoying. That’s the only one I have issues with 🙂

I studied Latin and Greek, so I rarely misspell either of those words. How do you misspell them? I used to spell ridiculous wrong (as rediculous), but then I learned Latin and found out that the word doesn’t have a prefeix (re-) but rather the base from ridere, to laugh at, like ridicule, and now I never get it wrong.

I can’t spell onomatopoeia for the life of me.

Vacuum. I always have to check. It’s funny though because throughout my Catholic school years, kids used to ask me how to spell EVERYTHING. It’s just the silly word I can’t remember.

License- its better now, but I would always put 2 ‘s’ in there.

Accidentally. I always have to think about it before I write/type it. If I don’t pay attention I’ll misspell it “accidently”. I’m such a grammar freak it bothers me that I always misspell it!

Vacuum. Calendar. Guarantee. For some reason I get the letters mixed up in those and always have to double check them.

Separately. I google it a lot. As in I googled it before writing on this thread to make sure I spelled it right.

I was in spelling bees growing up so there isn’t a lot that I can’t spell. DH and I were going through some of his old boxes from his last move that his ex-GF helped him pack. She wrote “tang tops” instead of “tank tops” and “cloths” instead of “clothes” on a couple of boxes. At first, I thought “Wow, he cannot spell to save his life” but he said she was responsible for labeling the boxes. It cracks me up all the time and I REFUSE to get rid of the TANG TOP box…maybe one day I’ll actually find one and then I’ll have the box for it already!
