Totes in place of totally. Drives me insane; totally is already slang, do we really need to slang it up even more?

Nice when its said “Nioce” Ugh, my exboyfriend use to use that and “Good times, good times…” all the time. drove me up the wall.

People misusing the word “Ironic” even that song by alanis morissette is not about ironic things, its just about sucky things.

Getting my hair did or I got my hair did. Ugh.

I’m not sure if has been mentioned, but I can’t stan the phrase “everything happens for a reason”.  I realize people do believe in it and that is fine, but when you say it to someone who is tough spot it comes off as flippant.

“I just lost my job”

“That is awful, but you know I believe everything happens for a reason.”

In my perspective saying that dismisses the situation and doesn’t offer any practical support of advice for the person who is struggling.

Ending sentences in prepositions drives me up the wall.

People who say “The walmart” as in “We’re going to the walmart, do you want to come?”

Referring to things in your possession as “mines” as in “That bag is mines.”

“In a minute” as in “I haven’t had chinese food in a minute.”

OH! And one Fiance uses all the time “That’s no bad.” I could come home and be like, “I got pulled over, lost my job, got a really bad cut on my face, and haven’t eaten all day” and he’d be like “oh, that’s not bad.” As if to say, “It could be worse.” I realize it could be worse but SYMPATHIZE WITH ME for ONE second, PLEASE!

Those are just off the top of my head. I have more.

I hate when people ask, “where do you stay?” as in “where do you live?” Ugh, hate that!

I also hate when people say “expecially” or “aks” (instead of ask).

The use of gifted as a verb.  You GIVE a GIFT or someone gives you a gift.  Things are not ‘gifted’ to you nor do you ‘gift’ something.

I’m going to have to go with nucular instead of nuclear (I’m with you @cardigan!)

My BFF works at a Nuclear power plant, but she still says nuculear, I tease her about it all the time!!!

using the phrase “Right on”….it’s pretty much only guys that do this. Just annoying filler.

“I need to find myself”  are you hiding in a closet somewhere?

“Epic” I dont know why I dont like it.

“belligerently drunk” when used to describe someone who was just simply drunk instead of angrily drunk

Oh and “things are coming to a head”

I had a teacher who kept saying this to remind us he will need to leave class for a day for personal reasons.

This teacher was totally unprofessional, rude, mean and perverted.  Since he said that phrase all the time, and I really dislike him, I grew to hate that phrase.

The ones I hate that have already been mentioned are totes, nom nom nom and over the moon – I dont get any of them and think they sound stupid!!!

The other two words I hate are “sure” in response to a yes/no question – to me it shows indifference and it comes off as rude

And “gotcha” ….all my friends say this after I tell them something in a text or email and i HATE it

I don’t like “Whatever” used as a response as it sounds dismissive.  Like others have said, I really don’t like the phrase “It is what it is.”  My finace says this all the time and, as much as I adore him, I can’t stand that phrase.  I also don’t like text speak.  I’m 33 and feel like a 90-year-old–“I just don’t understand what the kids are saying these days…”    I was happy to see that “nom nom nom” bugs other people!  I had never seen it until reading it on this site.  What’s wrong with “Yum?”  Oh–one more thing I really hate.  I haven’t heard it in awhile (thank goodnes!) but I hate it when people say “Aight?”  Instead of “All right?”

Fun thread!

i hate it when people add -er -est or something like that onto words that dont need them! like- stupid-er

and then it gets me even more when they put most or more in front of that!!!! its not supposed to be like that!!

i also really hate when people mispronounce my name.  my boss does it all the time! it drives me up the wall!!!! my name isn’t even hard! Natalie…you say it just like it is spelled! she always says naDalie or natlee….GRRRR!!!

I must confess that I say NOM NOM NOM but only when my dog is eating!!!
