I’ve been reading the boards for a long time but just joined today because I need some help! My wedding is in TWO WEEKS (!) and I still haven’t decided on the music for the ceremony. We’re getting married outside in a grove of trees and then having our reception in an historic barn. My Fiance already claimed “Appalachia Waltz” (by Mark O’Connor/Yo-Yo Ma) for his entrance with the groomsmen (and possibly for the bridesmaids’ entrance). I love that song so much, but I’m having a hard time finding something just as good to go with it for my own processional! I want something that has the same folksy instrumental strings sound but isn’t sad-sounding (like Ashokan Farewell by Jay Ungar/Molly Mason Band). Could you recommend some songs?
Here’s Appalachia Waltz if you haven’t heard it yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vguZmqHJ6OA
Thank you in advance for suggestions!

Do you have pandora radio on your computer? Try putting it in as a station and leave it playing for an afternoon until you hear something you like. Its pretty good about pulling up similar songs.

Maybe listen to Simple Gifts by Aaron Copland. There are a ton of peoplw who do it, with and without words.

Appalachian Spring, by Copland comes to mind it’s in threemovements so you could use the “Simple Gifts” section or not. Another option might be Prelude to “The Afternoon of a Faun” by Debussy. Neither of these has the same instrumentation as Appalachian Waltz , so you could search for string trios if you want that to be the same.

I just wanted to share that we figured something out and it worked perfectly!
