This is for my son’s wedding. It’s not part of the wedding that I am responsible for. But the groom’s 2 sisters (my daughters) are in the wedding, and so the dresses they are going to wear do concern me a bit.
The girls all ordered their dresses from an online (overseas) shop. The dresses are supposed to be finished by now, but the company just told the Bride, “a little more time needed”. Wedding is May 25. 4+ weeks now.
Makes me nervous. I am keeping my mouth shut about it (mostly). But, what would Plan B look like if the dresses don’t arrive in time?
What do people do?

That’s up to the bride. If the dresses don’t come in the bride will need to make a decision quick about going out and buying new dresses.

However, if she ASKS you for help you could recommend renttherunway.com.

I’m pretty sure that there is a Chinese holiday going on now and they are not back until about the 6th of May so hopefully your dresses will be ready to ship. I would try to get ahold of somebody at the company if possible and see if this is the hold up because if so you will not be receiving them until mid to third week of May. There are some U.S. companies on line like the shop I got my dresses from that take a few weeks to get the dresses in so if you need help with this let me know and I will recommend.

If it were me, I’d go to Macy’s or somewhere similar and find matching dresses off the rack, or ask everyone to wear whatever dress they could find in whatever colour. A friend of mine had something similar happen and they all went off to the mall and found a dress they could live with and bought them the week before the wedding.

As a bride, what I would do is head out to my local Macy’s, Herbergers or JCPenney’s and shop around. They typically have an abundance of dresses for lower prices and carry most sizes so all the bridesmaids can try them on right there. Also, March-May is when prom dresses start to appear on the rack. There are some dresses that can be VERY classy and elegant enough for a wedding although labeled as a prom dress. This is my personal plan B if I cannot get the dresses I want for a good price or they take to long to ship. Also, if you are worried about alterations, try to think of a family member or friend who sews who can do the alterations for cheap in short period of time.
