Or just “my husband’s stepfather” but I think it would depend on the relationship he has with his father and step father.

Why are you asking? Is this more just what you call him to friends or are you trying to put titles into a wedding program?

I think its a personal decision; if your Fiance is really close to his stepdad (aka, he raised him, etc.) I’d just refer to his side of the family as “the in laws” and if the situation is necessary, then clarify. If they didn’t have a close relationship, then like PP said, “husband’s stepfather” is sufficient.

My Darling Husband has a step mom and a step dad but I just call everyone my father or mother in law. I don’t add in the step unless I’m trying to clarify a situation.

he could either be your stepfather in law or your fiance’s stepfather

Technically, he is your stepfather-in-law, but that doesn’t mean you have to call him such.  Your fiance’s biological father would be your father-in-law.

I agree that it depends on the relationship between you and your FI’s step father, and your Fiance and his step father. Both of my parents’ mothers passed away when they were children, and  I know my dad referred to my mom’s step mother as his Mother-In-Law, while my mother referred to my dad’s step mother as her FIL’s wife (there was a lot of tension with that side of the family). I know I will be referring to my SO’s step father as my MIL’s husband, as neither my SO or I have any fond feelings for him, but that’s a tale for another day.

I think it really depends on the type of relationship your Fiance has with him and with his bio dad…for all intents and purposes, I would just call him “FI’s stepfather.”  Once you guys are married, he’ll be commonly known as your in-law, anyway.
