I would think “sweet, free booze.”  Though now that someone else suggested pregnancy, I could see assuming that, too.

Nobody’ll think twice, in my opinion. You’re just getting rid of things you don’t use!

@guitargirl Wow, your FH sounds like a really strong guy who knows himself well. Good for him cutting things off at the pass! We’ve all heard what slippery slope it often is, and a lot of people don’t have the support or will power to do what he’s done.

I wouldn’t think anything of it. My group of friends tend to have traveling alcohol–whenever there is something left over it always shows up at the next party until it’s gone. Even if I was in your sister’s spot, and if I knew about your FIs past issues, I don’t think I would necessarily jump to the worse conclusion. I might be a little curious, but unless something had happened to make me think my Brother-In-Law was doing something, I wouldn’t think it.

I think it’s great that you and your Fiance are being proactive and he recognizes that the temptation is there and I hope everything works out for the best.

You and your FH sound like strong people that make a great team! I doubt anyone would ever figure it out. I am sure you guys will make it through this, you both seem really on top of it. I wouldn’t want to add family to this either!

I’d just be stoked for free booze.  We always have people over so it’s nice to be well stocked.

I highly doubt she’d be suspicious of anything.

My sister is an alcoholic (not quite recovering yet, but starting to realize she has a problem.)  She buys alcohol and then when she is better and trying to be good, she gives it to my mom.

However, it tends to be several bottles of hard liquor, so even with that background I still would not have thought anything of a few bottles of light stuff.

I very rarely drink as well and I have given away Mike’s and other similar stuff after trying 1 in the pack and realizing I probably won’t drink the rest.  I just think most alcohol tastes awful.  So it would not have raised any red flags to me.  I think it is good that your guy can admit that he needs it out of the house and that he can talk openly about his struggle.  He sounds like a good stable person working hard at recovery.

You could tell her that one bottle is so that you’ll have something to drink next time you’re at her place  🙂

Also, I want to jumo on the bandwagon and say AWESOME JOB! to your hubs for being self aware and staying healthy, and to you for supporting him! Good job!!!
