@leahlou:  SECOND.  Without a doubt.  I wanted the lowest amount of vendors to worry about and the smallest amount of work to do in the weeks leading up to the day.

It doesn’t really sound like option 2 is going to be that much more expensive than option 1.. so I’d go with 2.

the 2nd option doesn’t seem like it will save that much, besides I didn’t see a food budget in the first one.

If you would save something like even $1k, I’d say do the first one, but they look about the same.  The 2nd option seems less stressful too.

Definitely #2. It will be so much easier on your family and friends–no dealing with set-up, clean-up, or the inevitable torn-up lawn.

@leahlou:  Option 2!  I think like other brides have said that it is always better to have to do as little as possible the day of.  I am doing a ton of DIY stuff, and my venue sounds just like your second option.  Once you start thinking about all the little details (if you haven’t already) so much comes up that you will be happy you have your families help with the details.  Plus a barn just sounds sweet!

For a $165 difference, do option 2.  Option 1 could easily get more expensive than that when you’re DIYing the decorations.  I know from experience.  Plus, option 2 would be so much easier and less stressful.  I also want my family to be able to enjoy the day and not have to worry about setting things up and breaking them down later.

Option 2, Khimaira Farm for all the reasons bees have already mentioned (less work for you and family, less stress, etc), plus I just looked up pics and it’s GORGEOUS!

Is this it?? That’s a fantastic deal on such a gorgeous venue!

@leahlou:  Most definitely Khimaira farm. And if looks like the pictures above, how could you not?

@leahlou:  I would go with option 2 if you love their portfolio because that is a fantastic price for everything included in the package, especially since you can still BYOB and save tons! I am actually planning an outdoor wedding at my fiance’s parents’ house and it is SO much work! However, I’m very creative & detail-oriented and I know that having to follow a venue’s rules & use all of their vendors would drive me crazy. I do hope that our guests will be awed on our wedding day and that it will all be worth it; we shall see! Good luck with your decision!

I would go with option #2! I feel like even though it seems to me more expensive now there are probably extra expenses you haven’t thought of if you do it at his house. We were going to get married at my fiances house cause we thought it would be cheaper but adding up allll the little things on top of all the work we would have to do it just made sense and saved money for us to do it somehere else. Plus #2 is GORGEOUS.

@leahlou:  Ok now that you mention that you are working, raising a child, maintaining a home, & knowing first-hand how much work option 1 requires, I would DEFINITELY suggest option 2. It is a beautiful venue for a great price! I find myself having a very difficult time making the BIG decisions & constantly seek the opinions of others to confirm whether I am making the “right” decisions; however, from reading your original post and subsequent responses, it seems like you are leaning toward option 2 🙂 In my opinion, you should give yourself a well-deserved break, let someone else do the work, and focus your energy on the little details that you want to incorporate & simply enjoy being engaged!!!
