…you found out you and your Fiance were somehow related? This has been one of my biggest, most irrational fears. Haha!

I would lose it I’m sure.
A chick I worked with started looking for her siblings. Her father was out of the picture and had many children with lots of different woman. I believe it was 13 children or so. She found one of her sisters who had almost found all of them. She invited all of the siblings over and the girl I worked with discovered that she had slept with one of her half brothers that she had met at a club 6 years earlier! Ahhh!
Oh wow, that’s an odd one! I guess it would depend how closely, lol. If we’re second cousins or further, we’d definitely proceed as planned. 🙂
I agree with ^^ jo.lee.
It’d be kind of creepy, but I’d had these thoughts before as both of my parents were adopted. haha. I know I’m not though because FI’s family is very, well, obvious. You know, you can trace everything. 😉 Not what I’m used to. I hardly have a “family history,” lol.
If we were distantly related somehow, I would still marry him. If we turned out to be long-lost siblings or half-siblings though… man that’d be tough, but I doubt either of us would still want to go through with it. o_o
I also agree with jo.lee. Well, I’d push it to 3rd cousin, but yeh. 🙂 Creepy about the half brother thing! :o…. <-he threw up lol, but seriously, poor kids! Didn’t even know.
LMAO…I just totally LOL’d at this one! I was actually joking about this the other day. He is Korean (100%) and I am as American as it gets. We both died laughing.
lol I had a situation like this ALMOST happen to me with an EX. I was dating this guy, Nick and he said something about how Brandon was his cousin. I was like what do you mean he’s MY cousin. I freaked out because I thought we were somehow cousins and we had slept together. Turns out Nick’s cousin was married to one of Brandon’s cousins on the other side of the family, so there were marriages linking our families together, but no blood. PHEW! It was still weird though. I’m with everyone else on the 2nd or 3rd cousin thing. I would be SOOOOOO weirded out though.
@soon2bhis: HAHA….I have a friend who shares your fear and won’t date anyone who is the same race, just to err on the side of caution
There was a TV show like this. SVU or something like that where the couple ended up being brother and sister because their mothers had been artificially inseminated by sperm from the same guy. Yeah, I think I would be freaked out a bit. My Fiance and his mom were best friends when we were kids and I called his parents aunt and uncle. We lost touch for 15 years and then met up again and things just fell into place. It freaks him out when I tell him he’s marrying his cousin. There is no blood relationship at all. But it still makes me laugh that he he freaks. I guess he asked me out when we were kids and I said “Ewww…you’re like my cousin.” From the moment our relationship became romantic, I was forbidden from calling his dad Uncle. Which was really weird, but my son wasn’t going to call him by his first name, so he just started calling him Grandpa. So I did too, and it was an easy transition for me.
@soon2bhis: ha ha ha seriosuly!!! ok..we were JUST talking about this at the dinner table the other night. Darling Husband had a friend who went travelling around EUROPE..like as in ALL of Europe and found a girl that he fell in love with and they got engaged. then they got freaked out. As they are making the list they started making bizarre connectiosn and realized far down the line that they were techinically related….if they had babies would something be wrong…NO, if they did get married would everyone be sitting on one side of the church..NO…but odd all the same. I think they called off the engagement soon after as the thought was just to much.
I’m sure way way back we are since both our families are from the British isles, plus anyway if you go back far enough almost everyone has a common relative.
I knew a girl in college who was dating a guy and they were very serious, then the girls mom met the guys dad and THEY got into a serious relationship and got married. So this girl was dating (and ended up marrying) her step brother!
If it turned out we were siblings or half siblings, we’d have to call everything off because that’s just messed up. I could definitely deal with second-cousins or more, and probably with first cousins, but it would take some getting used to lol…. I would, of course, never purposely try to date a cousin!
It’s weird, because a lot of people tell us that we look like siblings. We both have blonde hair (though his is a shade or two darker than mine), pretty pale complexions, we’re both very skinny, and we both have thick, dark eyebrows. So I guess we do look related, but I’m very confident to say that our family trees are pretty easy to trace!
