I was called back as a rehire for a place of business very close to my house. I had previously worked there, really enjoyed the job and coworkers but asked to leave after a year due to starting school fulltime. I am now finally settled into school and feel comfortable to start working again.
Today at the meeting/interview the Groomsmen asked what I was in school for. I told him Sociology and he said “why in the world would you ever want to get a career in that field? dont you realize that the entire population is crazy and a bunch of idiots. Theres no hope for them and I dont know why you would ever want to waste time trying to help them out” I said I was really focused on it because it was something im passionate about and my goal was to get a job with the VA working as a case managercounselor with military coming back with PTSD and re adjustment issues. his reply “well i think thats a bunch of bullcrap anyway. what we should do is just give everyone guns and let them run around and take care of each other and all these idiots in the world and be done with it”
HELLO?!?! ummmmmm excuse me?!
(my husband is prior service with multiple deployments and PTSD , readjustment issues etc)
I was completely dumbfounded that he would say that and it ruined the rest of the interview for me. I was just pissed.
I have no idea what to say if they hire me back. On one hand this would help me out trememdously because its close to home, previous knowledge of how everything is ran etc, love all the employees that are still there etc. On the other…… im completely offended. I dont have to work with him pesonally on a daily basis, Id see him about 1-2 a week for a few hours but im just venting and having a hard time seperating the two.
What would you do?
