I was 22 when my then bf, now DH, asked me to move to Germany with him for 2 years. It was an adventure and we delayed our wedding 2 years, but no biggie. I am 25 now.  We saved SO much money and we did things I never would have had the chance to do otherwise.

@6598731ssfse3: Is he going through UAA? Most UA professors will work with students who have to leave the country. I know they have worked with soldiers who obviously can’t do online work. It might be something to look into.

Do it! Can you imagine the adventure of it? Leave AK. You know how this place is – you get sucked in sometimes and it’s hard to leave. Go now – before the house and the kids. Go have an adventure.

Get married before you leave, if you can. Make it super low stress – think Hilltop by Eagle River, or eloping downtown and doing a quick 25 person reception at Orsos or something. . I bet you can get the families on board too! Nothing like “We’re doing this so you can be here with us!” to get people to help out.

I’ll be thinking (jealously) of you in sunny Guam when it’s dark in December. Doesn’t that thought alone make you want to go?! 🙂

@6598731ssfse3:When I moved to Hawaii I had to quarantine my cat, but they usually have an option where you can do it before you get there so they don’t have to stay in a kennel. We just had to fill out a lot of paperwork and have lots of vets visits prior to moving and we were able to pick up my cat when we landed. So just make sure to look into the options. Kenneling the cat when you get there for quarantine is not the only option. 🙂
