Lightweight framed posters (by lightweight I mean there's no glass and the frame is pretty light) : (6 votes)

None of the above- I'm only ok with wall decals as decoration above the baby. : (17 votes)

None of the above. Those wall decals are sneaky and could totally come off and smother the baby. : (7 votes)

I only put mobiles on the crib for my babies, until they could pull themselves up and touch them. I would not put anything on the wall by the crib. Once you baby starts pulling themselves up, they will more than likely reach for it and it could fall on them and/or they could try to eat it.

We’ll be living in the San Francisco area when we have a baby, and that means that we won’t be putting anything that could fall/come loose from the wall in an earthquake above the baby.

We only did wall decals and a mobile.  The mobile actually hangs so that it would fall outside the crib rails.  I’m a total freak since I’ve worked way too long in the ER and pediatric hospital.  Trust me… my daughter will never blow up a balloon or wear roller shoes!

We had light weight wooden letters that spelled out my bonus-sons name above his crib. They were held with ribbon. He’s no longer in his crib, but we never had any issues. They were high enough.

I did some DIY wall art on regular paper then laminated it and attached it to the wall- no frames though.

If you’re looking for inexpensive decals though I really like this particular etsy seller http://www.etsy.com/shop/vinylforall?ref=seller_info

@mwitter80:I agree with you.  We did this for our daughter and never had any problem.  She still has them hanging above her toddler bed!

I hung letters that spelled out my daughter’s name above her bed, but the crib was pushed away from the wall in case one fell. It never happened, but better safe than sorry. Nothing hung directly over the crib.

You could hang whatever you want for the first 7-8 months or so. It’s going to be a long time before the little one is able to pull up and be tall enough to reach for anything outside the crib. But if you want to go long term and not have to remove anything, then I agree with decals and a mobile.

we hung a canvas frame, that’s very light, with many, many command photo frame strips. It’s high enough that he won’t be able to reach it for a long time, and the crib is pulled away from the wall a few inches just in case. I’ve tried and it would take a bit of force to pull it off the wall. We don’t have a mobile or anything else near the crib.

I think decals are your safest choice if you want wall decor because they are basically stickers, and they wouldn’t fall off by itself. My sister is 15 and her room still has the Winnie the Pooh decals from when she was 5 or 6.

We didn’t hang anything above her crib because of safety concerns; the mobile hung over the changing table, but nothing was over the crib.  What about painting on the wall?  Like a phrase, the baby’s name or a nice decoration?  I think that would be your safest, along with the wall decals.
