I’m not doing a full meal, but I don’t know what to have. Other than cake and drinks (mostly of the non-alcoholic variety), I’m stumped.
Would a dessert reception be okay at that hour, or should it be “real” food?

Our reception is at 3:30. We are serving cake, cookies, brownies, punch, coffee, ice water, butter mints, pretzels, and veggie trays.

@TogetherThroughLife: Mmmmm butter mints! I haven’t had one of those in a really long time.

I would do appetizer type of food. If you only have dessert, that will be too much sugar IMO. I think you need to have real food, but that doesn’t mean a meal.

You could do a really nice sandwhich platter. + maybe a few veggie/fruit trays, and your desserts & cake.

We’re doing a lunch reception during early afternoon and we’re having salads, veggie and fruit trays, yummy sandwiches from our favourite local bakery, and some small French desserts from the same bakery. Oh and since we’re not doing a traditional bar so we’re having a champagne and bellini bar instead (:

@mepayne: Haha…they’re the best!

Small finger sandwiches, appys and I think the dessert bar idea would be fine.

Our reception is at 2. Were doing an assortment of appetizer like foods and a veggie and fruit platter and one pasta with bread rolls.
