So originally Fiance and I scheduled our wedding date for May 3, 2014, but because of our desire to just hurry up & be married and because of some other things that have worked out in our favor, we are changing the date to October 19, 2013!!! We aren’t scheduled to take engagement pics until another 2 weeks because I was waiting to get my ring back from the jewelers & with the wedding date quickly approaching, I don’t think we can wait that long to send out our save the dates. Especially as much of his family is out of town.
So we are trying to decide on a picture that we already have to use for our save the dates so we can hurry up and send them out. FI really wants to use this picture that we had taken during our mini vacation in Gatlinburg this past March. Technically, it does fit in with our theme as we are having a country rustic wedding on a farm. But I can’t decide if I’m really okay with using this picture or if it’s just a bit too far out there. What do you guys think?

These photos are fun… but you know that the costume your wearing is a brothel worker, right? They were called soiled doves. I’d find another photo, also because the lighting is dark.

@michiru4ever: Yes, that’s why I’m hesitant. I wondered if people would see the fun side of it or if it would just look bad.

Do you really need std? Your wedding is so close and invitations are probably going out soon. I would just spread the date to out of towners by word of mouth and then just send the invites a few weeks early to insure people can get enough time off.

Sorry, not crazy about the photo for an STD. It’s fun but I’d pick something else. And as PPs said, you’re probably sending invites soon… I would lean towards sending them on the early side and skipping Save-The-Date Cards. Or else maybe an email STD?

@jordanhughes: I see the fun! I think a STD… any photo really… has to represent the couple. If this photo tells me anything about you, it says you like to have fun together! I honestly am not bothered by the whole brothel costume thing… It’s a cool picture and it’s not inappropriately scandelous by ANY means.

@jordanhughes: I agree with the PP…our wedding is in Oct as well and I already have our invites signed sealed and ready to go the last week of July/First of August, so STD’s might not be necessary. Maybe just mail your invites out early?

I don’t know if I would do a STD at this point, honestly. They say you can send invites anywhere from 2-3 months, and you’re almost at the 3 month mark! Save some time and/or money and just go straight for the invites!
That picture is awesome (I love the old timey costume pictures!), but maybe not for a STD…

I totally thought this thread was going in a different direction when I read the title… I really gotta get on these abbreviations.
Honestly, I wouldn’t use that photo. Some people would find it funny, but some would probably think it’s in bad taste (I mostly say that because I am going to assume you are a fellow Tennessean since your pic is from Gatlinburg and, well, howdy Bible Belt)
Maybe just print up some pretty invites without the photos! Etsy is a good place to look for them, or you can look for templates online and make your own.

Yeah.. I think it looks a bit inappropriate, especially for older guests, to have you in that outfit. The photo is also dark, but that could be fixed with photoshop.

Guns and Ladies of the Night just don’t make for Save-The-Date Cards, IMO. I’d forgo them since the wedding is close.

Your Save the Date can be whatever you want but I’d skip that photo, I did a pic of our rings, get creative 🙂

I don’t think they are appropriate to use for anything wedding related!
I would feel a little embarrassed to receive it sorry:(

As others have said, forego the save the dates. According to most timelines… you should have invites purchased/printed and ready to pop in the mail in 2 or 3 weeks. Cute photo, though!

I think you should save the money for the STD’s for something else. My uncle is also getting married in October and we just received his invitations in the mail yesterday. Save the money and energy!!!
