I don’t know why but I’m totally failing to feel confident with any of the dress options I’ve come up with for a NYE wedding. I have a form fitted with deep V neckline, black, long dress (normal to wear black at weddings where I am from) that I planned to wear with sparkly earrings and a red lip. Then I heard bridesmaids are wearing black dresses. So, is that weird if I wear a long black dress? Will I look like a wanna-be, even if I accessorize differently? I also have a pretty short, rose-gold colored dress that has sparkly silver and copper beading all over (which I thought could be good for NYE) but then I worried what if the bride has a short reception dress with sparkles, will we look like twins?
I have a very conservative blue dress I’ve worn to weddingns before too, but for NYE I was hoping to wear something more ‘fun’ and not super conservative.
Ive got a few days to buy a new dress too, so any and all ideas welcome!

that sparkle number sounds fabulous. Wear that.

You can’t be expected to know and avoid any attire similarities to those in the wedding. Black is a very common color, no one would think you were trying to look like a bridesmaid. Rose gold isn’t white so you’ve avoided the one color the bride gets dibs on. You are way over thinking this.

If you know what the bridesmaids are wearing then yes avoid it if you have a second option. Honestly as long as you look nice and put together you are fine

I know, I’m totally overthinking. I was happy with both my options until I started googling, and google said you can’t wear silver, champagne, rose gold, pale pink, blush, etc because off-white wedding dresses are in style. Someone on another WB thread was saying no to sparkly dresses because you might look like the bride’s reception dress.
I personally didn’t care what people wore to to my wedding, but I got worried that I wasn’t being considerate, I guess. Or that I would get side-eye for wearing something inappropriate.
it is a pretty dress, and I think it would be on ‘theme’ for a NYE wedding for sure!

I think the black is fine, it is such a classic and elegant color.

The sparkles and sequins!!!

Show us photos! 🙂
But I agree that either option you mentioned sounds fabulous.

I would go with the black. I’m sure you won’t be the only non bridesmaid wearing black. Plus, the way you style your outfit will be very different. Stop overthinking it.

I’d love to see photos! But my vote is for the sparkly number, sight unseen.

I can’t take a picture because I somehow cracked my camera 🙁 but here are some pictures from online that are pretty close! The color of the shorter dress is pretty similar to this one, but the style is cocktail length, short sleeves, high neck in front and lower scoop neck in back.
The cut of the black dress is pretty accurate. The straps on my dress are mesh and skinnier and the slit is on the side of the leg instead of right up the front. The slit on mine is not as high as in the picture.
