@Zinzerena:  That sounds AWESOME!  Wish I could talk my guy into a medieval wedding…

We are having a very grown up version of knights and princesses at our wedding. I always have called him my knight in shining armor and he thinks of me as his princess. We both love midevil literature and everything so we want to encorporate into our wedding without being overly cheesy.

My Fiance is picking out swords for all the groomsmen and himself. He is then going to have them engraved with a name that stands for why he thinks they are his “brothers” (he is going to call all his groomsmen his “brothers”, so no best man) and they will wear these swords during the ceremony. I will be wearing a big floofy skirt with a lace bodice and the men will be wearing silver tuxes that “look like a coat of armour” as my Fiance says.

I’m currently on the scout for a knight and princess figurine I can use as our cake topper for our wedding. I’m probably going to make my own base for it.

Our theme was “Hey we are committing to spend the rest of our lives together, let’s all have a freaking awesome day/night.”

I didn’t feel it was necessary to come up with a theme in the sense that I define a theme, but our decor was inspired and bound by our colors and by the inspiration that I found in our venue. It was a winery. Our stuff all was chosen and designed to look good in its surroundings; so, somewhat on the more natural side, with some corks and wine barrels and wine bottles incorporated as well. Our venue was so stunning that it really would have been distracting to try to compete with it by theming our decor as a like 40s theme or something. Beauty in what already is, that’s how our wedding ended up being stupendously gorgeous.

Our wedding “theme” is seaside elegence! It is not “beach theme,” because I don’t like how cheesy it sounds…so it’s seaside elegence…:D

I’m pretty lenient with the colors. They are sky blue and sea green with lavender accents…but as long as it all goes together it works ๐Ÿ˜€

I picked it because it’s my dream to get married on the beach (which I am) and I wanted something a little elegent but goes along with us…we do live on the east coast of fl…so the beach is our second home..

What I think that we are going with is something of a antique/woodsy/country feel with some modern unconventional touches. We both believe is some traditions, ( more him than me) and we really beileve in family. So those will play important roles.  We both love being in the outdoors , so I bet that will make a show some how. ๐Ÿ™‚

My original theme was hydrangeas (my favorite flower), and I was going to put each couple in the bridal party in different colors to match the different colors of hydrangeas…but hydrangeas really only come in four colors (pink, blue, white, green, with variations on those four colors), and we have 5 attendants on each side.

So I just made the theme “blue” and we’re using blue hydrangeas as our flowers.  Everyone will be in a different shade of blue, and I think it will look awesome.  It’s easier for me to DIY stuff when the theme is “blue.”

Our “theme” is Japanese Cherry Blossoms.  I wanted to find an interest that Fiance and I shared.  My first choices would have been music or chocolate, and his would have been video games and computer networking Tongue out.  But he loves Japanese culture and I adore cherry blossoms.  Voila, we have a style that represents us both.  Cherry blossoms won’t be the sole flower.  We’ll incorprate other asian style flowers and bamboo, too.  Colors-cream, dk. brown, red, pink accents.

@Scottielass: We will have to share stuff along the way. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am doing simply cherry blossoms without the Japanese part. I would love to see how something similar yet different turns out! Keep me updates! ๐Ÿ™‚

Ours is not a ‘theme’ really.  It’s a general idea, based on colors and accents.  Basically we are doing casual, modern with peacock accents.  We are doing black and white (oh…so…easy) with green accents.  It’s the color of the walls at our venue, so I figured I work with the color instead of against it.

I intend to grow a small lavender farm and keep honeybees once Fiance and I get our home (you can imagine my excitement when I found Weddingbee!). I have such a draw to doing this that I suppose this is where my ‘theme’ came from:

Lavender & Honey

I want actual fresh/dried lavender as opposed to just lavender-colored other flowers, and if I can swing it I’d like to give out little jars of honey with lavender sprigs as favors. It’s not really the theme of the wedding- just an aspect, I guess. I just needed something specific to stick with to give me focus and not go in ten different directions. I still have a ways to go with planning, though…

I’ve actually never read a thread in all these months where people mentioned how they DON’T care for themes!  Funny stuff!

I do have a themed wedding based on birds.  Our save the dates said in small print ‘Birds of a Feather – Flock Together’ and our invitations do as well.  We have a card in them that says ‘A little birdie told me…’ that asks for advice and comments on life, love and marriage.  Our centerpieces are ceramic birds and I’m using miniature birdhouses on the aisle as decor.

I think the tiny touches will be lovely, but who knows – maybe all my guests will be cracking bird jokes the whole night! ๐Ÿ™‚
