Wear something that reflects your surroundings, your personalities, and the vibe you are going for in your engagement shoot.

We took out photos in our backyard and by the lakeshore, so I dressed pretty casually as did my Fiance, although to varying degrees.  I wanted to make sure that our picturs reflected us and that point in time of our lives!

I love my photographers. Here is their site if anyone’s in the Omaha area.

I grabbed a few things that I’d normally wear to a party, a few comfy/casual pieces, and a few dresses. My photographers kind of mixed and matched our clothes to fit each “scene” we shot in. The only new piece I bought for the shoot was a lace dress.

My advice would be to dress like yourself! You probably have some favorite items in your closet already. If you buy new clothes, make sure they’re really ‘you.’

I think it depends where you have the pics taken. I had mine taken in Central Park in the snow so dressing up would have been ridiculous IMO. The location and weather made my decision for me.

@dolly1105:  Thank you!!  Also as an aside, WOW we are date twins, and I see you’re in Aurora – I grew up in Naperville! LoL

We only had two different outfit changes. I kind of wish we would have done one more. Rawsii was our photography and we loved her!

@elysion:  This is kind of funny because I’m from the Arlington Heights/Mt. Prospect area! ๐Ÿ˜›

We went pretty casual since we’re not really “let’s get all fancy and dressed-up” people. In the end, we wore exactly what we normally wear – jeans, plaid, and cardigans (and a bit more make-up for me and coats since it was chilly).

All our family and friends though our photos felt like us which is exactly what I wanted ๐Ÿ™‚

If you can do an outfit change, do it!  I loved both of my outfits, but ended up being much happier with how the ones in the blue dress turned out.  We wanted to do our school colors because it’s where we met and it’s been a big part of our lives, but we didn’t want it to be tacky either, so we tried to keep it subtle. ๐Ÿ™‚  These aren’t our best photos, but they showcase what we were wearing best.

We could have done an outfit change but chose not too. I’m not all that girly so this was a challenge for me. I’m definitely a t-shirt and jeans person but I wanted to be a little dressed up. That being said I also didn’t want to wear something that obviously wasn’t my style (such as a dress and heels). I absolutely love wearing boots though so I made sure to have my favorite pair on for my pictures ๐Ÿ™‚ FH asked if I wanted to wear my contacts for the pics but since I usually wear glasses I figured it was fitting to wear them for our pictures as well. Definitely go with what’s comfortable for you! PS I’m a big fan of props too!

I changed but he didn’t.  I like a few of the ones of my in the pink dress but he didn’t like the way he looked at all.  We ended up having one of us both in jeans and black shirts enlarged and matted for our guests to sign.
