@summerSmile:  I second having the skirt hemmed or at least having the train trimmed and wearing it out to a fancy restaurant or for a formal night on a cruise.

In the past it was traditional for brides to die their dress and wear it to formal events for years to come. It’s part of why silk is so popular in wedding dresses. I’m very seriously considering this since I’m al ready cutting off the trai of my dress, which will make a bit less weddingy.

For your wedding anniversary & maybe a nice dinner with your hubby? I would suggest at home, but please feel free to go out with it too.

My Mother-In-Law who does very amature photography, took some pictures of us just being silly in our formal wear. I enjoyed myself. I didn’t do jack with my hair so I looked like a scuzz, but it was a blast to put my dress on again.

^^^ One for the wall 🙂

I love the tea party idea and going to a black and white ball!

Or taking a picture at a different location on each anniversary!

@HappilyEverAfter54:  a lady in my office gave me the idea of using my wedding dress as motivation to lose weight after every baby i have int he future. she said that after each kid, she worked out and lost the baby weight until she could fit in her wedding dress again lol

@summerSmile:  I have a girlfiend who is just starting out in photography.  And she likes to do practice shoots with married ladies sporting their wedding dresses.  I think it sounds like fun!!  See if there are any photography students who do practice shoots in your area.  It seems like such a waste to pay so much for a dress you only wear one time!

In the city my parents live theres an annual “bridal ball” to raise money for something (womans shelter i believe? How awful of me not to know this! Urgh!) you go in you bridal gown or bridemaids gown (or any fancy gown) and its got dinner, silent auctions and dancing. Looks lke alot of fun. I may try it after the wedding lol

On our anniversary, my husband and I plan on re-living our ceremony, just him and i, off in the woods, saying special things to one another again, all dressed up. Luckily, we live on a very private hunk of wooded land.

I brought this idea up to him the day I finally scrubbed the grass stains of out my dress. He loved the idea. Our ceremony was special, but I feel like we missed out on the truly intimate, private emotions that we wanted to say to one another.

I am looking forward to it!

Plus, I’ve been on a weightloss journey and I’m anxious to see how my dress will look a year later!
