@Golden139; I can see why some people don’t resonate with the Notebook. It’s one of those movies that can fall flat if there’s nothing personal to connect with. It is on my top ten because I watched my dear grandmother slowly disappear and eventually slip into death over ten years due to Alzheimers. So, I balled my eyes out almost through that entire movie.

My 18 year old stepdaughter goes on an on about how terrible the OTHER Avatar movie was… I guess there’s a “real” or “first” Avatar that isn’t the big blockbuster one?

I generally hate any of the super sappy chick flicks like The Notebook, etc.

Agreed about the gory movies. It’s stupid and girls who scream and say they are scary annoy the heck out of me.

I actually LOVE 90% of Will Ferrel movies, The Hangover, hahah that’s my kind of humour. I think the thing we love about those movies is if you keep watching them you get all the underlying jokes.

@KatyElle: Thank you! But now I have to disagree with you–I actually liked Forrest Gump 🙂 I’m sure you’re not alone in your dislike though. That was another one that they made it seem like everyone and their dog was supposed to love haha.

@MrsSaltWaterTaffy: I didn’t like Anchorman either. I wasn’t impressed with Knocked Up either.

@Miichelle: That’s a beautiful reason to love that movie. I am sorry about your grandmother, that must have been so hard. I’m sure The Notebook has personal meaning to a lot of people for that very same reason.

@KatyElle: Me too! I wanted to like it for that same reason, but I just couldn’t for some reason. Maybe I should try to watch it again now that I have my Fiance and see if my feelings change…

Footloose. GAAah. I can’t stand Kevin Bacon, that movie just kills me. We had to do it in swing choir in high school, I hated every minute of it.

Ok.  Movies I detest and I “didn’t get”:

1)Avatar:  Star Wars blows it away every time.  I was not that impressed.

2)Slumdog Millionaire:  Just not my cup o’tea.  I like to be happy in seeing movies.

3)Seven:  The worst ever ending ever.  (hint:  involves something in a box sent to the character played by Brad Pitt)

4) Titanic:  We all know how it ends.  And yet it won awards over and over.  Again, I like movies which make me happy.  I mean, I watched it and wanted to yell at the darn ships’ captain (or his assistant) or whoever the heck hit the damn iceberg!

5) Mr. and Mrs. Smith:  Should be renamed “Mr. and Mrs. SMUT”

Valentine’s Day made me want to poke my eyes out.  It had an AMAZING ensemble (yes, Julia included), featured Topher Grace (yum), and I still hated every second.  Ugh.

Also not a fan of He’s Just Not That Into You.  I enjoy looking at Bradley Cooper and Ben Affleck, but every single character had such massive issues and flaws that it just made my skin crawl.  Gigi especially… watching her stumble through dating made me fidget.

I’ve never read or seen a Harry Potter movie and dont really ‘get it’.

Almost anything with Tom Cruise post-Top Gun, EXCEPT for Far & Away. I loved Far & Away.
