Get rid of the PC! I’m a huge fan of my macbook, and the chance of viruses as I’m sure you know are a lot lower.  If the PC is running slow, maybe take it in to get it cleaned up a bit, then try to sell it on Kijiji or something

I would keep the Mac if it’s running better, no contest.

Keep the MAC! if its running smooth- heck ya! Maybe invest in the $100 ProCare and bring her in for a tune up. and the extra perks that come with pro-care.  (i think a tune up is 70 or 80 bucks, so I always spring the extra 20 bucks for the year long program)

Wouldn’t it matter the speeds and memory and all that kind of stuff and what you use each for? Not to mention if you get online with the PC then you’d need to add in costs of annual virus protection etc where as with the mac, it wouldn’t be an issue? What about programs you use, does each computer have the same programs, is there areason to keep the mac or pc over the other because there is some program you could no longer get access to if you got rid of it? It sounds like the mac is the better choice but you could always wipe the pc and reinstall the OS and (hopefully) have it up and running like new again. I think for me it would be about the strength of each computer in the end but I might pick the mac just because of the virus protection stuff, then I wouldn’t have to worry about it (I’m a PC and MAC person at home we have both as well)

I would keep them both, just in case something goes wrong with one of them.

Just to add I totally have a PC that is in major need of repair but I refuse to go over to the mac only side because part of me really hates them even though part of me really loves them. Of course the macs are (knock wood) working fine!

honestly i would wipe the PC and re-install a newer OS if you liek the PC better.

the 5 year old one… hardrives fail around 5 years… like the motherboards start to die… so…

computers are like cars, depending on the wear, the parts, and how you take care of em, they can last you a lifetime or just right after you pay them off LOL

so i would go with the younger computer and have it fixed.

I know Macs are suppossed to be better, but I have an iMac and it has broken 5 times in the past 3 years!! i am totally not impressed!!!!  The last time it was literally 4 days before the warranty was due to run out.  Felt like there was a self-destruct timer that went off 4 days to early for Mac.  I should’ve just bought a cheaper PC for the quality that I received.

They have a great reputation but not living up to it in my books.

get rid of the pc.  PC laptops don’t last long.  Both of my PC laptops have crashed between years 3 and 4.
