Consider that besides the bride and groom, your officiant is the most important vendor you have… Because they’re delivering the REASON for the party: your marriage. The rest of the wedding is a party celebrating what they’ve just done (marry you). Then, with that in mind, pick your person.

We interviewed a random reverend this past Monday, we were both very impressed. This after having the hardest time finding someone. I’m atheist and do not want religion in the ceremony. Find someone with warmth, wisdom, great speaking voice, great unity ideas (the person on Monday gave us a wonderful suggestion that we are using), commication skills and is familiar with your venue and vendors. They should ask about names of the immediate family so they can be respectful of them. I rarely remember good officiants, have seen some great ones but you always remember the bad ones!
