I seriously always love being a bridesmaid.  I know it drives some people nuts but I just always have so much fun doing it.  And it’s so nice that people think of you on their special day!

I enjoy being a Bridesmaid or Best Man, I feel like it’s a very special honour to get to be a Bridesmaid or Best Man for the bride.

My experiences with being a Bridesmaid or Best Man have always been pretty good, but a little weird. Both times it was for cousins that I don’t see much anymore, because I moved away a long time ago. We were VERY close as children, but in recent years, not as much. We’ve long since agreed we wouldn’t be friends if we weren’t relatives, because we’re SO different in personality. So between living far away, and not being that close anymore, I didn’t do much as a Bridesmaid or Best Man. I just sort of bought the dress and showed up. I didn’t know most of the other people in the weddings, and it was a little awkward. But at the same time, I love my cousins dearly and was very honored to be in both of their weddings, and they’re both in mine. I’m trying to keep them updated and involved as much as I can, so hopefully they won’t feel as uncomfortable with it. Then again, I’m the socially awkward one, so maybe they won’t feel that way anyway. Hope so!

I have only been a Bridesmaid or Best Man once.  But I didn’t live in the same state as the bride so she never asked for help with any planning or anything.  And pretty much the same thing happened with my wedding.  Being a Bridesmaid or Best Man and having them was a different experience than I expected, mostly because of the things I have read online.  Because in both cases it pretty much consisted of standing up there on the day of and that’s it.  But as hoodjeam mentioned it was nice to know that she was thinking of me on her special day.

I’ve had good and bad experiences.

I’ve been taken for granted, treated like a slave, forced to spend exhorbitant amounts of money due procrastination by the bride, worn hideous dresses, etc.

On the other hand, I’ve had lots of fun, worn fabulous dresses, grown closer to my friends, supported my friends, recieved gifts of gratitude, etc.

Usually with each bride there were good times and bad.  Overall I had to work really hard to swallow my hurt and annoyance and let things blow over rather than calling the bride on her shenanigans.

I have had both good and bad experiences as a bridesmaid.  I am not sure that I would do it again, depends on who would ask.  I am an older bride so most of my friends and family are already married so I might not have to worry about it again.

I’ve been a bridesmaid twice.  The first time was when I was 14 so I didn’t really have a clue what was going on.  The second time was a few years ago for my cousin’s wedding and I really enjoyed helping and doing things to make her day special.

I’m the first all of my friends and immediate family to get married, so I’ve never been a bridesmaid.  It’s hard because I don’t how everything should go and I hope I’m being a good bride to my BM’s!  Wish I had Bridesmaid or Best Man experience before I get married so I had something to start with, but I hope my wedding is fun and stress free for my BM’s!
