Taking care of sick kids and trying to sell our house. Adulting to the max.

@ashleyroo:  tiny humans. It was such a relief when my in-laws were fully vaccincated and we could ship the older one off for a weekend and their house! After the past year only having a baby to take care of for 2 days felt like a “break” even though that’s still not a real break.

But a lot of people (myself included) often aren’t intentional with their time which leads to a feeling of busy-ness. It’s something I’ve been working on lately and not wasting time is huge for me right now.

Work has just been a constant grind for me for the past 4 months, then just general upkeep of two homes, plus additional spring maintenance like getting the decks power washed and stained, buying new patio furniture, building our new fire pit area, getting my garden ready and not to mention, actually trying to dip my toes back into normal life now that I am fully vaccinated.

The biggest issue is that work has been so busy, that I have to catch up on anything personal after hours, but I’m also working 10-12 hours a day and am exhausted after work.

Work full time, 1 part time side job, 2 toddler dogs, 3 kids in 3 sports. Once I’m done at my day job, I head over to my other laptop to see if there’s anything that needs to be done for my side job. My oldest child plays a college sport so I may be driving to watch her play. My youngest plays a travel sport, so I may be driving her to practice or going to her games. Middle child is in the offseason for his sport, but when he is in season I do the same things for him. In addition to caring for my dogs and home.

All of that leaves me incredibly selfish with whatever time I have left to myself. So when I tell someone “I’m busy” it’s because I am.

Kids and house tasks.  Besides the toddler and now newborn… always stuff for the house.  Yesterday it took all day to install an RO system.  The past few weekends, open burn to clean up the yard.   Landscaping projects – build a shed, install garden path walkway around the house this summer  (Last year rebuilding the deck took all summer).  Re did my closet with built in kit before the baby was born.  Need to run some electrical to put in ceiling lights in two more bedrooms.  Rework entry closet and bench for more custom look.  Need to change my brakes and oil.   There’s just no shortage of stuff to do.

I have kids in school, work full time and am taking classes toward additional certification. I have also been trying to increase my exercise. So that, along with cooking, cleaning and family time, keeps me pretty busy.

With a 3 year old and a 10 month old there is never enough time.  Our oldest always wants one of us with him…. “I don’t want to be aloooooone” is what we hear all evening and weekend long when we need to step away to do something else besides playing.

I’m a professor so work never ends when I come home.  There is always an exam to be graded or a lecture to prepare.

Studying a master’s degree part time while working a full time job, also working freelance on the side to make extra money. Plus having to buy groceries, make dinner, clean, do laundry, exercise (for health, not for fun) and one of the worst ones… attend social obligations. All of this takes up all of my spare time outside of work so I almost never get to do anything fun for myself.

Demanding work, general adulting (admin, cooking, cleaning, laundry etc.) and 2 dogs already kind of does it for me, I am always amazed that parents manage kids in the mix too

Work has been very busy.  Outside of that, no kids so general house keeping activities with only two adults still eats up a lot of time as we’re trying to cook at home more. I am training for a summer of half marathons. I’m working on a goal of hiking the entire National Park by us. I’m trying to wrap up a cross stitch. I’m in two books clubs (still zoom but 3 books a month for that plus extra reading on the side). So while those activities might not be busy in the sense that I HAVE to do them, I prefer to do them over sitting on the couch or various social situations. So I guess I bring my busyness on myself but that’s how I prefer it. I think it’s worth noting that 2 years ago I would have claimed I was “too busy” to work out most days a week. Now work requires even more hours and I manage to work out most days because I make it a priority so I guess that plays a part too.

@kenobee:  I’m with you kenobee.  I don’t know where parents get their energy.  I don’t know how they get anything done.   I’m the first to admit that I’m probably a lower-energy person than average, but yes parents do amaze me!

I don’t think we’re too busy tbh. We did just finish a kitchen renovation, though, which kept our weekends pretty full from Dec-March.

Now we’re just prepping the house for the arrival of our daughter (30 weeks preg). But it doesn’t take up too much of our time.

Although we did just get thrown into a 3 day COVID lockdown over this past long weekend. And my response was like “oh nooo this really interrupts our plans to do nothing all weekend”  😂😂

Cherishing the silence before the chaos arrives on June 29.

I am a mom to a baby and I work part time so obviously those keep me busy! But in my free time I really enjoy reading. I usually read a book a week or every 2 weeks. I also love gardening and buying too many plants haha. I love hummingbirds and watching them. I also play the sims (the original one!) sometimes when everyone else is asleep.
