I’m working on helping my dad pick out our song for out father/daughter dance, and I’m having trouble choosing something. There are some songs that mean a lot to us, but the lyrics aren’t particularily fitting.
For instance, we both LOVE Frank Sinatra, and the song
summer wind but that has nothing to do with father daughter stuff.
Another one that
s a top contender isHalleluja
by Rufus Wainwright, but were not at all religious. It`s just a beautiful song that my dad really loves.
So what is more imporant, Bees…. the lyrics in the song, or the meaning behind the song?

i vote meaning over lyrics
IMO there are very limited songs that would relate to a father-daughter or mother-son dance, and picking some particular to you would probably be the right way to go, rather than having a generic song that holds no menaing for you

@ prettylizy: I definitely vote for song with meaning, but as an aside, Hallelujah is not a religious song at all. If is about intense, soul-crushing love. So, maybe go with Frank.

I went to a wedding a year ago where the Bride and Groom’s first dance was to “Big Green Tractor” by Jason Aldean. Its not really a “First Dance” type song, but you could tell on their faces that the song meant a lot to them (he was singing it to her while they were dancing..awww) it was adorable and ended up fitting the two of them perfectly! 😉 I say choose a song that means something to you, it’ll be more special that way.

The song should have personal meaning to you over anything else. The lyrics don’t make any difference and most people will not notice or care unless they are blatantly offensive.
