While you work on your guest list, divide it up into 4 lists and assign them to people to gather addresses (your friends – you, your fiancee’s friends – your fiance, your family – your parents and your fiancee’s family – your fiancee’s parents). Make sure you highlight people who might move (between now and when you send save the dates if you’re sending them, and between save the dates and invitations, or between invitations and thank you notes). Don’t stop at addresses. Also get  a phone number and email address for each group (for when you’re chasing down RSVPs). Now is also a good time to look at ceremony and reception locations since you have a budget, and season to work with. You can book as soon as your guest list is final (if you’re nervous about growing lists, book somewhere that can fit more people than are on your list).

@MzBeautifulButterfly:  No problem. I also have a long engagement (2 years 3 months) so I spent a long time trying to figure out when I could do things and how far ahead of schedule I could be (most timeline are 12 months). Also you can divide the guest list further if you want to (my parents divided their portion based on who was related to who). I gave deadlines (based on when I wanted to send save the dates) and that might be a good idea if you know some people will drag their feet. I would put the guests into an excel spreadsheet and consider uploading it to a site like weddingwire.com, which has a guest list manager (this helps you keep track of addresses, RSVPs, who needs a hotel [if you’re reserving a block], who will be at the shower, rehearsal dinner, what meal everyone selects ect.). Weddingwire.com also has great reveiws for vendors and I’ve found a lot of ours on there.
