@mandy102:  I just don’t see why Titanic is sad…you know the WHOLE time what’s going to happen (unless you’re one of THOSE people).  The ending is so cheesy.  The only part that makes me sad is right when the ship is going down, and the captain is walking around in a stupor (which is historically accurate, according to SOME sources), and the music is playing…that’s sad, but it doesn’t make me cry.  Of course…it may be that I’ve seen the movie about 100,000 times.

There is a book that makes me cry EVERY DAMN TIME…Love That Dog by Sharon Creech.  Don’t read it.  It’s so sad.  I try to read it often so I read it with students, but…nope.

@Karenina:  Oh, Up.  Gets me every time.  I saw it a few days before my wedding.  Bawled in the middle of the theater.

@HeartsandSparkles:  And Toy Story 2.  The whole kids outgrowing and forgetting their toys thing.  I used to think about that as a child and feel bad for my old toys.

@happilyeveraftergirl:  It’s a really great book.  A boy is the narrator, and he writes all these poems for his class, and he’s such a doubting poet…it’s actually really great.  But yeah…it’s about a dog.  AND WE ALL KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A MOVIE/BOOK LET’S YOU LOVE A DOG!!!!!

@Baimee:  I LOVE Black Beauty. But I like the book better. It is definitely my childhood favorite. When Ginger dies….

@JMR2:  Yes to My Girl. My fiance is highly allergic to bee’s and almost died from full anaphalactic shock this fall from those damn things – glad I was home to dial 911. Then we saw My Girl on the Movie Network about a month after it happened. We both sat and watched but when he died I lost it, took awhile for my fiance to calm me back down. I kept saying, “That could have been you if I wasn’t home, what if I hadn’t been home?” I was a paniced wreck on that movie scene. Although the movie means something so much more to me now after this past fall’s incident.
