Me too 🙁 One side was going to have our initials and wedding date, the other was going to have the person’s name on it. They were also going to be the place cards but I’m second guessing the  oyster idea now. Was going to make them out of wood, like a slice from a log since our wedding is outdoors. I guess back to the drawing board 🙁

Can I put a bridal shower favor I recently got? A single glass coaster with a paper attached to it stating a date of the month and instructions to say the prayer on the paper for the couple on that exact date every month. That’s been the worst/least useful or cutesy gift I’ve ever gotten as a favor.

morgyporgy:  Your coasters are gorgeous! I’m guessing the ones that people don’t like are covered in the bride/groom’s name and date. Why would a frend want that on their coffee table, you know? But your’s are beautiful.

Totally rethinking the favor idea now, we were going to do stemless personalized wine glasses. Fiance and I want to do a photobooth..maybe we’ll just count that as our favor.

We love edible wedding favors (but we’re biased!) – they get the most use after the wedding is through. Personalized olive oil, balsamic vinegars…you can even do local honey or jams.

Best: Full sized bottle of wine, a deck of cards, I think mine is pretty good–a coffee mug with package of local coffee (enough for 1 pot) or hot chocolate for the kids

Worst: a handkerchief, plain mason jar with handle, coasters. I’m actually not a big fan of edibles either even though I know a lot of people seem to love them. I don’t like candy or candy buffets at all. Chocolate’s fine if it’s a decent brands. Mostly I just think after a full night of eating the last thing I need is to be given more to eat.

Best – cider donuts for a new england fall wedding, aromatherapy soy candles for a vermont hippie wedding.  i liked how personalized they were to the couples and how they fit in with the themes of the day.

Worst – jordan almonds or a plain mason jar (sans lid) with a ribbon around it

Best: anything consumable

Worst: anything personalized (for the wedding couple) — those things always get thrown in the garbage when I get home (and I always feel so bad doing it..)

Best: My friend who I was a bridesmaid. She did custom made bars of hand soap, the soap was honey-almond scented and I would frequently go into our bathroom just to smell it. I can’t tell you how many times I was tempted to eat that thing (pretty sure it would just taste like soap though, lol).

Worst: None? I had a friend who did no favors. Better than a bad favor you feel obligated to keep, though.

Honorable mention: My Aunt did a Halloween themed wedding and she was Wiccan at the time, so they did little broom pens with their names/wedding date on them. I personally think this was cool because I was a waittress at the time and everyone thought my broom pen was awesome (pens in general aren’t a good favor, though).
Also, anything edible is boss.

Best:  I still remember these incredibly delicious cookies that were a favor at my cousin’s wedding.

Worst: Tie between a faux leather bookmark embossed with the names of the newlyweds & the wedding date . . . or a small bottle of incredibly cheap wine.

Moral of this thread:

no matter what your favor, some people will love it and some will hate it 🙂

I would love to get a personalized shot glass or wine glass but never have, but a whole cake or pie what in the world would I do with that? I’d have to eat it right away that night or else it will go bad and get wasted.

I also loved the corkscrew idea and want to do it! Except that half of my guests are from out of town and according to the TSA website corkscrews are allowed through security depending on the mood of the agent that day 🙁
