Last night I had an “Ah ha!” moment for what I want as my wedding necklace. I love Arwen’s Evenstar necklace from LOTR and have always wanted one but figured I would never really have a chance to wear it. I realized I would love it with my wedding dress. My fiancé is a big LOTR fan and loved the idea. I started looking for one to buy but I’m having trouble. The more expensive sterling silver ones look more sloppily made and I’ve read a lot of reviews about the stones not being very sparkley and that they fall out easily. I don’t want to get a cheap one though they look a little better looking (shape wise) to me. I was thinking maybe I could find someone to custom make it but I don’t know if that would be super expensive or if anyone would even be allowed to do that. Would there be a copywrite on the design?
What do you bees think? Just buy the more expensive sterling silver one and hope it looks nice in person and that the stones will be ok? Or try and find someone to custom make it?
In case anyone doesn’t know what the necklace looks like:

It is illegal to duplicate the design. It is most likely copyrighted (I ran into this issue with another forum I am a member of when they wanted to duplicate the snakes-eating-their-tails emblem from the Never Ending Story) but that won’t stop people from buying it, or making it for that matter.
A brick and morter jeweler most likely will not give you exactly what you want. They’ll give you an interpretation so they don’t have a chance to get sued. If I were you, I’d just buy one that looks pretty because on the big day, he isn’t going to be staring at your necklace.

Tons of places make similar designs, especially for ren faires. I have this one, so it’s similar, but the stone is different. There’s always this one, or this one.

@Hyperventilate: I figured as much. At this point I’m mostly worried about the fact that everyone who sells it uses stock photos so it’s impossible to tell what I’m actually going to get. And I’m a bit OCD so I’ll be upset if it’s not how I want it to look. But you are right, Fiance proabably won’t notice much (though he is very observant).
Thanks! I’ll check those out.
