I’m losing my job again ~sigh~ I just did this last year in May as well. Last year I graduated which automatically makes you ineligible for your undergrad job. I looked from March until August until I finally landed my current job. My new job was supposed to go from August to January, but I started producing results so the job continued longer than expected. However all of our funding fell through, so by the end of June I’ll be unemployed again. As I’ve been filling out job apps I’ve realized that my size has changed in the last year, and I have nothing to wear to interviews. It’s time to go get some new interview clothes.
So what’s the best kind of outfit to wear to interviews? I work in a super casual industry (laboratory research, current dresscode is pants, closed toe shoes, and things you don’t mind getting dye on) almost everyone who has interviewed me has worn jeans. I want to adhere to the pants and closed toes with my interview outfit because it’s pretty standard to tour through the lab in an interview and I want to be lab appropriate. Last year I wore a dark pink blouse that was much brighter than my normal attire because I wanted to be a bit memorable with black dress pants and shoes.
Is a pop of color the way to go, or should I keep it more subdued this time around? Should I wear my hair pulled back or down (it’s kind of wavy/bushy)? Any other apparel suggestions?
